My wife and I are going through the same thing. I believe that if a child is up front about who they are and want to be that they should have that right. I believe that parents should support their children and love them no matter what.

In the UK, Nicole would have protected under the Equality Act (2010). Trans people must be allowed to use the bathroom of their identified gender in Britain. I hope this comes to the US soon.

After watching this video, I have the greatest of respect for her father. He overcame his fears and supported her. I hope they can stay safe.

As Michelle Obama is fond of saying, "it is hard to hate up close." Mr. Maine's experience does not reflect the experience of most who have taken up stakes against the trans community nor are many opponents biased towards a willingness to evolve. you are an amazing person Kristy. i was born in the early 70s and even in my childhood i knew NOTHING of trans girls/guys/women/men. it's like the society wanted to pretend such people didn't exist. that you came through that at an even earlier time is testament i believe, to your strength. i can't begin to tell you how much respect i have for that. i'm glad you can be who you are and live in a considerably more open society
