this story hits me the hardest out of anything. I dated a 30 year old man for 2.5 years when i was 19. All of these things, it sounds like it could be the same man. He dictated my every minute, upon waking up i had to call him, then send a picture of my outfit for him to approve, then call on my walk to class, then spend every beak between classses sitting on the phone with him. Then he would come to my dorm room and make me stay at his house 40 miles away from my college whenever i did not have class, i had no friends unless they where approved (usually wives of his friends) I was contastant accused of cheating on him with anyone i even made eye contact with. a few times he pretended to be on a work trip and would be outside my window, watching to see if i had men over, he had friends call and pretend to be 'a guy i met a party' i would insist thti was taken, and had been to no parties. Then 10 mins later he would show up and shower me with unwanted gifts for 'passing his test' but it never lasted. he gave me an STD that leaded to me needing complete hysterectomy at 25. When i finally left him, it was because i found out he was talking to a minor online, and collecting nudes from dozens of girls. afterwards he stalked me for over 5 years until i moved out of state with a much larger man. My mother used to say 'its only a matter of time until i get a call that they found you dead in a ditch" until hearing this story i did not think it would have come to that, but i am in tears hearing this story, because i think about how many other girls might be danger right now was we speak and maybe they are thinking 'it wont come to that' i got lucky to escape with my life, so please if you think you are with someone who is showing these traits, and you are reading this, please call someone you trust and formulate an escape plan.

  • @lexyshannon9428

I'm not poly myself, but I do hate how people like this man shift the public understanding of polyamory. And that's because it can unfortunately also be "used" by people with bad intentions as a way to control others. When more control is held by an abuser in that scenario, they can absolutely exploit that for self-gain. They are also the most likely of the group to be responsible for enforcing that kind of abusive relationship between themselves and the others. And that's not what polyamory is about (at least, it shouldn't be - but abusers make that difficult when they often try to link their behaviors to "healthier" explanations in a world where people often refuse to engage in critical thinking/analysis or change their minds) Many people hear about these abuse cases, and either view them as the definition of polyamory, or they become so afraid of that form of abuse happening again that they cannot bring themselves to see or accept real and healthy polyamorous relationships. I really wish we could start reminding people of the differences between healthy/consensual and unhealthy/non-consensual things in a situational context, because the way things appear on the outside does not mean they function the same way behind closed doors. Point is: social bias is REALLY frustrating. Critical thinking should be encouraged way more often than reactional and uneducated thinking. That's my over-explanatory frustration rant for today 😅

I agree! I'm an ICU nurse and we typically can leave people on a ventilator and blood pressure drips (life support) for about 14 days. If we've tried to wean them off of the drips and vent for days and see no sign of recovery, we let the family know so they can make the decision on whether or not they would like to put them on "comfort care". That's when we pull the tube out that's down their throat (ventilator) and turn off all medications/drips keeping them alive. 3 days for a child that young seems very suspect! Either he was in EXTREMELY bad shape (scans or tests showed he wouldn't recover) and the doctors and nurses told them early on that he would likely not survive or they went ahead and said end it after just 3 days! And it seems to me it's the latter! We try very hard with all of our patients on life support, but if they are very young, they typically have a much better chance of survival, so we keep trying everything we can for as long as possible. 3 days for a teenager is insane. Sickening. I feel they wanted him dead as well. So sad. I wish I knew all of the details of his condition in the hospital.

Thing is he abused ‘women’. He would’ve been in prison with men. His abuse wouldn’t be prominent in prison because he had other men to contend with and his victims were female. Many men who abuse women would and have got less prison time cause they aren’t surrounded by the people who they target. His behaviour was good because he couldn’t manipulate the men. He even waited for the victims Dad to leave because he saw him as threat and couldn’t over power him. His hatred and abuse was solely aimed at women hence why he would get good behaviour in prison because he didn’t have any women he could particularly manipulate. Even if their were female guards they would know what tactics he would use so more than likely knew what to look out for or he used his ‘charm’ eww to get less time. Abusers/manipulators aren’t stupid. But still baffled how he was sending letter to his ex victim and this wasn’t flagged as bad behaviour. That alone should’ve kept him locked up.

Personally I believe that even if you didn't MEAN for anyone to die, if you plan an event that is life threatening, you should still get a premeditated murder charge. That's like if someone planned out a stabbing and the victim died but then the perpetrator said "oh, but I planned it so that I would only hit non-vital areas of their body" ... like you still planned a stabbing and people still died. If you start a house fire knowing people are inside, you should be charged with premeditated murder even if you had a plan for getting them out once the fire was going. Ridiculous.

Real life "Shameless". For those who know and have been through a story like this (personally or witnessed as a child) there's a reason why some men get the name "Mick". Mick's dont change. Mick's abuse and destory everything in their pathway and everyone is too scared to say anything and Mick's somehow always seem to catch a break or get the lucky card with their charisma and manipulation usually off the dime of someone else's back. Hence, the nickname "mick". If you are Irish everyone knows the Mick.
