Saw him live on Yeezus tour. Let me tell you when the beat drops on Blood On the Leaves the entire arena went absolutely nuts. Unfortunately he also complained for 30 minutes about Nike and trouble with clothing etc. but otherwise his shows are terrific. Glow in the dark tour also was incredible.

@@bellasilva7461mine is “Blood on the Leaves” but I’ll defend “I Am a God” too. I find the dad hypocritical when he said that rappers shouldn’t have any boundaries just as comedians earlier but later says he disliked “I Am a God” because it’s offensive. Rules for thee but not for me. But he’s also right that this song isn’t meant for casual leisure, it’s the inner psychology study on madness and it’s ugliness. Context aside tho, I like how evil and primal the beat sounds so I’m cool wit it.

fr bro rod senior the goat 🔥🔥
Virgil gave some insight to this album cover during either an artist talk or an interview. Originally the album was going to be designed by either Takashi Murakami (Graduation cover artist) or George Condo (MBDTF). Virgil was brought in onto the project. Virgil said working with them was like going to art school. In the end, they realized that this album would be one of the last major albums with a major CD release because mp3 became the main form of listening to music. So the stripped down cover not only matches the minimalism of the sound, but also serves as an open casket funeral to the CD as a musical format. TL;DR: the cover is an open-casket funeral to music CDs
On "On Sight" he says: "How much do I not give a fuck? Let me show you right now 'fore you give it up" followed by what people would expect from him. Honestly people love it. He extended it when playing live. It sounds so soulful and beautiful. I'd love to hear a whole song with it. People have done it and it sounds so good!
Yeezus is sooooooo underrated even to this day, probably due to it being so different in terms of production and it being a huge ego trip for Kanye. But when you look at what he did with the production and actually listen to the lyrics it is undeniably one of his best if not the best.

@@ChronicSpinDash fr no cap. I bought this album day one and when I showed it to my friends they're like yeah, the lyrics are kind of cool but the sound is wack. The further back in time you go the more people stick within the genres of music they most listened to or was around them. I remember when I heard a song on an ad and I have to go as far to contact The ad agency that produced the ad and the artist that they selected for 30 seconds. People who listened to this are coming from hip hop strictly. Rap is graffiti on a wall and ye took those spray cans and made a mural on a bed of steel rods. Hip-hop said wack. but all of us who love music as art saw this as beautiful. Around this time dubstep was peeking into mainstream with Skrillex at the forefront. And for Kanye to deconstruct the machine music and stretch out the notes was ingenious. This was Kanye at his most egotistical conceited high on himself. He had just presented his crowning achievement and had the Midas touch with the g.o.o.d music album and watch the throne. It was because of this that the reviewers thought Kanye was convinced he could sht out gold with no direction or coherent ideas which made this album a downgrade. My fav is 'im in it's the instrumentals and it's pathway diversity stop and go thru the track is perfect.

I was 14 when this album came out and loved it. I went to the Yeezus tour later that year in Sydney and to this day it remains as one of the best concerts I have been too. It was insaneeee. Blood on the Leaves and New Slaves were my favourite.

Rod Sr. got the typical first reaction to Yeezus. The lyrics are hard and funny. The music is well produced but nothing you would listen to consistently. But then you listen to it a second time, third time, a thousandth time, and you see Yeezus for the absolute masterpiece that it is.
It took way long for people to appreciate how good this album actually was
The Roman numeral for 300 is CCC which is a known anagram for cool, calm, and collected.

The things he is saying is as abrasive as the music. He really pushed the boundaries on this album. Some of these are songs that are hard to listen. But maybe my favorite Ye album.
Perfect description your dad did on On Sight. First listen to Yeezus i was like what, On sight definitely is one of the best intros in my opinion . The song has grown on me a lot.
The daft punk songs on this are really insane. Never really heard a mix of those type of sounds with rap before or since really. My favorite Kanye album
yeezus aged like fine wine throughout the years… imo it’s a top 3 album in his discography
Yeezus is one of his best albums if not his best. It was waaaaayy ahead of its time.
Today I wanted to meet up with a friend of mine and go to the cinema. Then I got hella sick and I was really mad about it, but you two are absolute treasures. Never fail to put a smile on my face. Thank you for these great videos.❤️
I always say people never like this album on first listen but as time goes on and you think about how good it is you come back and love it

Everyone has their own fave, but this defo isn't his 'best'. It's just a colour in Kanye's paint pallet. It seems like those who got into Kanye late tend to prefer Yeezuz more than those who grew up with The College Dropout, who for the most part can't stand the album. Me personally I listen to every Ye album on a frequent basis depending on my mood, every one is a masterpiece when you really consider what went into them, and how they changed music at the time.

Your dad catches shit I only caught after 7 years of listening to this album lmao, your dad a smart mf Also for someone his age, he seems to get the concept of rap albums like this a lot better than most people. He seems to get that some of this shit is just for fun and the lyrics are just fucking around for the most part
A lot of people don’t know Yeezus is a concept album. Anyone interested, I also highly recommend Dissect podcast breakdown on the album.

Wait till dad finds out ye made a gospel album 🤣
I love that he does not lie. Fuck that. If he thinks it's a bad song, he's not afraid to say it and I love that.
First of all, love the shirt, dad. Second, thank you acknowledging how over the top "skinny b with no shoulders" was. I can't not giggle thinking of that line just from the pure audacity.
the fact he opened it with on sight.. and closed it with bound 2.. GENIUS.
He was not fuckin with I am a god 😂
I agree w your dad 100% here, Bound 2 and Blood on the Leaves are the only songs from this album on my playlist (Black skinhead is on my gym playlist too haha). But those 2 are imo two of his best songs ever. Might have to get this album on vinyl just for those 2 tracks haha
Yoooo fire video
Y'all should definitely find time to do Discovery and Random Access Memories by Daft Punk.
I go a few months without viewing the channel so there's always some content to watch when I get bored and feel like hearing music I might not have heard of. I'm going to start from the "newest" video I've not yet seen but I just wanted to say because I know you really Kanye. It must wild right now liking his music with all the stuff he's saying, lol. I have to say I really couldn't care what he says, sometimes it's a bit funny, but man has that man gone off his meds.
Holy shit! YEEZUS is the the best what Kanye did imo. I like your dad's takes on the songs, keep up!

That's cool - I found this album the easiest to get into but I love harsh electronic music. I thought this may have been his biggest album or something 😆 Didn't know it was so badly received! 😂 Still can't choose a favourite from him though... maybe MBDTF because that's what got me into him in the first place. I think you might be talking about Ska music when you were talking about the connection between Jamaica and the skinheads. Ska music originated in Jamaica and was the music that both groups would listen to and it had heavy use of the two tone black and white checkerboard logos to represent both groups (obviously before the skinheads started adopting different political views). Not sure if you got the answer in the end as I haven't finished the video yet.

I really think your dad will love The Life of Pablo….it has plenty of Yeezus elements with the sounds he really likes….I think he will dig it
New Slaves is by far the best to me that second verse is one of Kanye's best and also the outro is one of his best ever
9:10 “somebody was mad about that” 22:15 “that’s disrespectful” Lmaoo 💀
IAAG is so hard esp the outro and also Send it Up they r the most underrated here, but best is HML/New Slaves.
