Well done and it looked like Dirk was a pleasure to fly with. Lots of good solid information he shared with you. Haley, I am an old retired guy who watches planes and motorcycles on KZread. My niece is in Aerospace at MTSU. I guess you will eventually ferry a plane to Murphreesboro or Shelbyville. I think they fly D40s and C172s. I like the way you talk to yourself when recalling your checklist. Keep learning. I rode 80 miles yesterday on my 99 Honda Magna. Got to keep current on perishable skills. Bye, Barry

In my 62 I use COM1 for weather and ground and COM2 for approach and cruise etc. Reason being, when you are departing again, COM1 is active before the avionics master is turned on and so I already have the frequencies I need all dialled in from the arrival. Just something that makes life a little more straightforward. Great videos 👌

Dirk should let you hand fly the approach. Automation can makes pilots lazy and can lead to trouble. Stay sharp, keep those skills tuned up for when you need them. Don't be a an autopilot pilot. I have a friend who flew a turbocharged A-36 Bonanza for years. The aircraft was packed with state of the art avionics and he always used the autopilot. He flew with one of those little jet pilot headsets (the ones with the little wire for a mouthpiece.) So, he and his wife were flying in IFR over Missouri when they hit a huge Canadian goose. The windscreen exploded and the goose came into the cockpit. He found himself unable to communicate with ATC because that little headset was ripped off his head. A 130 MPH wind was hitting him in the face, he could hear nothing, his eyes were injured from debris, and the autopilot disengaged. He admitted it had been so long since he had practiced hand flying the airplane in IFR under emergency conditions that he lost control of the airplane for a moment. Thank God muscle memory kicked in and he got the aircraft back under control and made an emergency landing at... Bentonville, Arkansas. Now he flies with a heavy duty David Clark headset, hand flies IFR approaches every other trip, and practices emergency procedures in IFR and VFR conditions regularly. Each time I see him and his wife, I am amazed that they are still with us.

Your job reminds me of the US WASP program during WWII and the tremendous job some 1200 ladies did for our country moving aircraft from MFG's and various airports all around the US to free up more men for combat flights. They became capable of flying every type of aircraft the men flew during their short two year period of service. I believe about 34 young women lost their lives in the process.
