Those tracks you were uploading from that houseshoes mix, I finally got the original tape they came from. Amazing material. They are from the same tape shoes mentioned in that Bling 47 Breaks Edition for the track Purple. He mentioned a tape in that video. Crazy stuff man.

Le prime volte che l'ho ascoltata non mi aveva impressionato rispetto a tante altre (certo, parliamo del "livello Dilla", qualcosa di irraggiungibile per praticamente tutti i producer)... Ieri durante una serata techno, dopo almeno 2 mesi dall'ultimo ascolto, dal nulla mi è balzato in mente il vocale di questo pezzo e da là non se ne è più uscito. Misteri ahahaha

Beh stiamo parlando degli esordi di Dilla ufficiali in produzioni su etichette discografiche, nonostante tutto. E qualitativamente era proprio tanta tanta roba. Prima sotto l'ala di Amp Fiddler, poi in Delicious Vinyls con HouseShoes per passare infine al periodo Slum Village e solista in StonesThrow cambiando e rivoluzionandosi sempre anticipando i tempi e creare uno stile tutto suo e d'avanguardia

Lungi da me voler criticare il brano. Ne avevo riconosciuto la qualità indiscutibile, ma rispetto ad altri suoi brani, ai primi ascolti mi aveva preso meno tant'è che non l'avevo scaricato. Fino a quando, appunto, dal nulla e in un contesto del tutto estraneo, dopo mesi, mi sono ritrovato il vocale a suonare nella mia testa senza neanche che inizialmente ricordassi di quale brano fosse, ma certo fosse di Dilla. Per il resto, la qualità di questo pezzo e di tanti altri lasciano ancora più di stucco se considerata l'età in cui sono stati prodotti, con Dilla 20 enne o poco più. Ha vissuto in un contesto familiare fantastico dove il culto della musica era pane quotidiano e il talento ha potuto svilupparsi fino a farlo diventare, semplicemente, il più talentuoso, estroso, innovativo, poliedrico (ma qui se la gioca con Madlib, il quale però ha molti più anni di carriera) produttore hip hop di tutti i tempi.
