    Great video. I love these Field Tested videos. They are very detailed, and I enjoy watching how you test things in the field. Plus it's fun to watch you explore these places.

    Matt, that's a fantastic video of Iceland and it's so much better to actually see interesting footage + images while learning a bit from a camera / lens (old or new) then just having someone show it around. Even if you can't go to such a fantastic place I'd say you've found a great format - I hope you keep on with it! I'm enjoying watching those in a combined (kind of) documentary + real world product test. Many many thanks for that and when you put up the new KZread SPONSOR option I'll be sure to be sponsoring you.

    I really enjoyed this new style episode. I look forward to seeing more in the series. The background stories and drama caught in the 'B' role is a great addition. I can only imagine the blue streak after that D850 got kicked into the ocean. Maybe a future episode could be entitled "The perils of travel photography."

    I was in Iceland the same (first) week that you were...the south was pretty stormy so we stayed north and west. I had hoped to have a new 850 body for the trip, but alas it was not to be (its still on order) My D3 managed well as it always has, but I do wish I had something 'more' on this trip. I'm totally looking forward to getting the new body.....and returning to Iceland next year to pick up where we left off. Great video and images...totally has me pumped !

    Amazing field test video you've put together Matt. You've already sold the D850 to me, though curious as to which Mavic you used in Iceland. I use an Air 2, but your footage seems cleaner, so I'm assuming a bigger sensor, like the Mavic 2 pro? Keep the amazing videos coming Matt. :)

    Re buffer, I do get up to 50 shots before buffer fills shooting compressed lossless Raw. But you have to turn off all in camera processing functions such as distortion control, d-lightening, etc .. apparently these options take up processing power. If you strip these out, you get what was advertised. I kind of feel that experts who educate we less knowledgeable public should dig deeper before making definitive statements.

  • @wallstreetoneil

    @wallstreetoneil

    6 жыл бұрын

    Since Matt shot RAW, you would have hoped, Distortion Control, if that was in fact the issue, which shouldn't be doing anything while in RAW, but it is good to know there is a solution

    zagan1, you are a buffoon. None of the processing is required while shooting raw. eseka2000 is 100% correct.

  • @zagan1

    @zagan1

    6 жыл бұрын

    Dada Kaka Of course the camera does processing in raw. It'd never write an image to the sensor if that was the case. All sensor require a processing chip or that sensor would do nothing, you have image smoothing to help reduce nr in the images even with no nr set it'd still do some as some pixels in the sensor can be dead and the processor can work around those problems. The nikon cameras have d lighting and white balance those also come into effect. You also have aa on the images use you see that when zoomed right in. To say the raw image is 0 processed is absurd.

    There are many settings that will reduce your buffer. Mine wasn't able to shoot 51 14bit lossless compresed files in a row as well, but It was able more than 60 after I set it up correctly. For example image preview reduce your buffer. Also shooting at ISO 6400 and more will reduced buffer. There are more, but it is definitely capable to shoot fas action without buffer issue. This is something I couldn't say about my D750. Even at 12bit losy compressed it was barely usable.

    Hello Matt Granger, I need your comment on this. Recently I got my D850 along with Tamron 24-70 G2. I noticed an issue like lens vibration/ shifting (not sure what to call it). Problem is when I back focus a subject then recompose and push the shutter button the lens vibrates a bit (same as when it focus on a subject) but I checked multiple times the focus does not shift. Also by experimenting on this i noticed even when I am pushing the Fn button after focusing it is vibrating. It is more prominent when I am trying to shoot the vertical shoot and lens id tilted up/downwards. Is it a normal thing or my lens or camera has an issue? Thanks!

    I’m surprised at the buffer issue you’re having. I haven’t had that issue at all shooting wildlife. Also, the white balance never went off on me unless I was a crazy lighting situation. I had natural light coming through a window with a tungsten light shining on my subject from above. Of course it didn’t know what to do then. But I’ve found the auto white balance and auto Daylight white balance to be spot on every time. The only other time I had an issue was when I forgot to switch to regular auto when I went inside.
