地震発生当日の夕方から深夜にかけて、JR新橋駅付近の様子を収録した映像。
午後5時半すぎ、SL広場前では、街頭ビジョンを見上げ、地震の情報を確認する大勢の人たちが集まっていた。
(列車の)運転再開の見込みが立たないことを告げるアナウンスが駅周辺にも聞こえてくる。
駅構内、改札の内側も外側も、多くの人が途方にくれ、駅員も対応に困惑している様子。
時間とともに、人の数はさらに増え、いつのまにかSL広場は、群衆でいっぱいになっていた。
日が暮れ、上空(ヘリ)からの空撮でも、周辺の道路が大渋滞となっている状況がわかる。
午後10時半ごろ、帰宅困難になった人々のために、駅前の競輪場外車券売場も「臨時休憩所」を設けた。
臨時休憩所内では、たくさんの人たちが疲れた表情のまま、座ったり、床に寝転んだりしていた。
銀座口前のタクシー乗り場も長蛇の列。寒さに身を震わせる人や座り込む人の姿も目につく。
午後11時すぎ、JRの改札窓口には「(JR東日本全線が)終日運休」となったことを告げる張り紙が掲示されていた。

Footage: JR Shimbashi station and its surroundings on day of earthquake occurrence from early evening to late at night. A large crowd of people have gathered inside the central square, looking up at the TV screen above to check the latest information about the earthquake. Announcements are being made by the railway company about the uncertainty of trains resuming operation anytime soon. Even the station staff are confused in dealing with the situation, as many people remain helpless around the station, inside and outside the ticket gates. With time, the mass continued to grow and the central square is overflowing with people. The sun sets and even from the air footage of a helicopter, the traffic jam in surrounding roads are apparent. At around 10:30 p.m., the ticket booth for the cycling race stadium in front of the station provided a "provisional rest area" for those unable to head home. At this rest area, many are sitting or lying on the floor with tired faces. There are queues of people at the taxi stand near the Ginza exit. Some are shivering to the cold, or sitting down anywhere they can. After 11 p.m., JR posts a sign at the ticket gates that reads that "All Eastern JR line operations would be suspended for the day. Within the JR station, people are sitting on the stairs or lying down on plastic picnic sheets waiting for the train to resume operations through the night.
