SCUBA, Self contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus. What that guy built is a Surface-supplied diving rig.

Take a "Spare Air" can for safety; that wayy if your pump fails, you still have a seperate independent scuba system to get you to the surface.

I am hoping there is no poisonous oil lubrication in that compressor. Surface supplied divers conduct regular gas quality checks on their compressors. They also have HP backup bottles and dive control systems that can switch between compressor and backup gas. Along with communications.

It is an oil-less pump, I use one on my gold dredge. I have a inline tank though with filters. I use it MAX. 10 feet, works fine. Add a solar panel and charger and run all day on one charge.

Anybody can scrounge a car battery. Batteries wear out very quickly when deep cycled, especially car batteries. Lithium batteries have a lifespan even when not used at all. Ten years, no batteries, end of story.

IF the end of the world is near, I wouldn't want to survive to see what would happen after the catastrophe has passed. Instead, i'll just wait for my possible death while listening to some Iron Maiden, because we would all know when the wild wind blows...

I'd prefer to go freediving, I'm a prepper and freediving is easier for me. Coz I prefer to be able to move freely. Been two situations similar to apocalyptic, been Ina town sieged by rebels and a killer quake when I was a kid. Believe me, best thing is be mobile. Freediver even snorkelers only need a knife, a spear and a mask. Oh and I have 8 months worth of food and meds stashed in two separate locations.

Not really, to fill a scuba tank required a very high and expensive compressor which not easy afford by unusual diver. You can buy a scuba kit, but to refill the tank in America, you need a diving license. Overall, using a scuba system is more professional but very expensive to maintenance. A hookah diving system is more suitable and affordable for people who not often diving and just dive in not very deep water.

All in good fun. I would like to try a two/four person railcar style pump with a manual gearbox, that can be hooked up to a compressor, with an air tank and regulator. Or a band saw, forge hammer, grist mill, a cutting wire, a generator to make electricity or hydrogen. (It really goes on and on.) In this case it can be mounted on a boat for both propulsion and the compressor.

I suspect they are trying to get this up and running because it requires little in the way of energy if you can get a scuba system with a tiny compressor solar panel and a battery I say that is a great idea. I know places where one could harvest clams that make pearls these clams sell for about a dollar each back in the 80's I suspect they cost even more now either way you can get enough to make the trip worth it in an hour. We could get the clams no tank just swimming so they are plentiful.
