Ойындар

I tell the story from my Dungeons and Dragons game where the group decided to split up the party and explore the dungeons, leaving me behind. It did not go well for me. . . .

You should have persuaded the ranger by telling him that your group was trying to stop the evil dark wizard from destroying the world, and that if you failed the world would end. And if the world ended then his master would die, and since his job was to protect his master, he should obviously help all of you defeat the evil wizard and save the world. (Also this would have opened up some pretty cool roleplay potential for him)

ThiefCat Chad It doesn't. Either a DM who doesn't know the rules (and players who don't either because they didn't correct the DM) or there is some embellisment for the sake of a more interesting story going on. I suspect the latter. 😀

Everyone's talking about Lamia being snake women, but nope! Quote from page 201 of the Monster Manual: "A lamia has a beautiful humanoid upper body that merges into a powerful four-legged leonine form." Edit for clarification: Obviously that's not true of ALL depictions of lamias, but for the setting his depiction is 100% accurate.

To everyone saying "A laima's a serpent, don't draw a laima as a sphynx." Bahamut's a turtle in the original myth. Not a dragon. In the D&D 5e Monster Manual, Laimas are drawn as sphynges, not serpents. Yuan-ti's are serpents. Wizards of the Coast can do whatever they want with D&D. Meaning, Ben is actually right in drawing a D&D LAIMA as a sphynx. (On a side note: No Jackalweres? Their Monster Manual description specifically mentions working for laimas.)

Generally lamias are snake women that seduce men and then eat them or suck their blood, sorta like a three way cross between a vampire/succubus/marilith. for some reason someone decided while making the monster manual that lamias would turn into 'centaurs except with lion parts'.

I have a story of 3.5 when i travelled a Desert. My team and I (a Warhulk) were looking for a Colossal Scorpion, when i said '' This desert is too big, were never gonna find it'' And one team member said ''Its a Fucking COLOSSAL Scorpion''. One session of laugh later, we found it, behind a big sand dune, i asked our mage to create a bridge of immovable platform for me to climb up to his face so i could punch it. I ran up, then crited, dealing so much damage i K.O'd it in one shot.

The lamia is said to look like an elf when the party finds her but while lamias can cast disguise self at will, the spell specifically states “you can’t change your body type, so you must adopt a form that has the same amount of limbs”. And interestingly with her mind control spell, geas, it doesn’t require concentration and doesn’t specify breaking at death, meaning the effects would still last even if she was downed
