I told my players once that a black dragon hates you. It's not personal, they hate everyone, but also it is TOTALLY PERSONAL because if they did know you they would hate all the little things that make you you.

Although the blues are my favorite, it is hard not to both respect and fear the pure embodiment of evil that the black dragons represent.

The great thing about Black Dragons is that they can be both, brutal beast and cunning foe. They are savage enough to deliver a direct assault, but can also make long and twisted plans. Which makes them a great choice for every dungeon master.

I sure would hope so. Otherwise they would be extinct. They would be nothing more than bigger lizards with bigger attacks. A dragon should never be a giant sized flying crocodile with bad breath. Their intellect is very high, they cast spells and in the old days they had decent psionic attacks, defenses and sensory powers. The could "sense" their domain and everything in it. Every animal was potentially a slave or an intruder. They have their own complex language and societal tiers. Imagine the magical items a dragon would own and utilize. They would have trading items for luring purposes and those that enhance their own abilities. Enhance? 🤯 Just imagine.... To me, treating a dragon like a bigger troll or giant ogre is an insult to the game.

SO GOOD. I play a campaign where my warlock patron is Ebondeath. For those unaware, he's a black dragon turned Draco lich. And he's kind of a jerk to me😅. So this was great to listen to

The story gave it tons of animation. I could feel the Dragon melt away from the illusion of itself still laying there, while completely invisible and effortlessly silent as a colossal limbless serpent slides thru the gore under his enemies. The chambers his disintegrating breath weapon carved into his lair were like an old, reliable friend. Always faithful, yet silent as the grave.

That was very good for 9 minutes but I still want more. I'll wait for part 2 if I have to. 😒 Your story telling is excellent. But regardless of the kind of dragon.... I just need more. It's almost like you consider a Black Dragon as a "B" monster? I just can't see any true dragon as anything like a side adventure. No insult intended. Surely their magic is mightier than ours? Different? Maybe access to a few Druid spells like charm monster, avalanche, fog, insect swarm, sticks to snakes, quick sand, maybe a few twisted Treants or poisonous plants? A Black Dragon must have giant Anacondas, Crocodiles as distractions or pets? Something quiet and slithery.... Me personally I love those frog people. You know, those cheesy but somewhat human sized kind from the DnD cartoon? BullyWugs? 😂 Change them to an almost invisible in the swamp brown olive color, many sharp teeth, their ability to jump 30 feet from tree to tree, stay underwater indefinitely, give them slightly poisonous short javelin attack and their communication that no one would guess was communication? "The only noise is wet sucking, dripping, a cacophony of lots and lots of frogs with buzzing biting insects. Almost overwhelming at times." I think they should fight the kobolds over favor from the Black Dragon. They might have a grossly obese shaman in their tribe who is large enough to swallow kobolds. This shaman can "see things".

After re-watching this video.... I have to admit.... there were some places where magic or psionics of a subtle, very subtle nature could be "inserted" here. I'll give you that! Good one. Very good one. The unnatural cold (even for veterans), the previous victims remains, the glowing gemstones, the "ignore your gut feelings and just move forward" emotions, "the path forward looks easier over here" (herding). I guess the deep subtlety could be its own strength and cause an overconfidence preluding to a strong surprise back attack. Like slime on velvet. Keep the senses overwhelmed and fixated in this.... 345° area. It's there. And it's draconian. I do like it. The absolute immediate disintegration of a veteran in 1 second would definitely heighten the effects of Dragon fear for sure. Check Mate is a possibility here. Like a King Cobra in complete darkness. Revamped grade of A+..... 9 minutes stretched to 19 effectively! 🧐

Agreed. The Chosen of Tiamat should be a ferocious video. I've seen the other DnD channels attempt them but I'm not impressed. Creatures at the top tier of DnD which wield magic should have great magic. But creatures that are the best of the best in their categories.... need unique magics that shake cities. Imagine you're a Red Dragon with the ability to cast multiple fireballs. You can only cast them the length of your tail tho? Ridiculous..... The Elite must be Elite.
