    I've got a friend group willing to give DnD a go, unfortunately we are all new to the game. My experience with it goes little beyond watching my favorite streams but as the most experienced and creative I've taken the mantle of the DM. This video has been a great help and surely when I help one of my players with creating his own Barbarian (Dragonborn) sheet, I'll seem a lot more knowledgeable than I actually am. Love the videos, I can now confidently guide others through their own struggles as a beginner!

    Hi man! It would be very helpful if you made indications in the video for each building step and you zoomed a bit out. When jumping in the video, it's very hard to find out on which page you are :) Thanks!

    I decided to make a Half Orc Barbarian at the same it but with different rolls and I think todays my lucky day. As I joined my friends recently they were already part way through and most of them were level 3 close to 4. So the DM allowed me to make a character and start it at lvl 3. So my stats are at Level 3 Str-20 Dex-14 Con-19 Int-10 Wis-14 Cha-15 AC-16 Hp-43!!! I think watching this gave me good luck. So thanks for that plus for the helping making this guide. It really help.

    WOW!!!!! Epic ability scores and modifiers dude!! Hopefully, if you want to choose a feat instead of increasing an ability score, you'll choose Alert. It gives you a +5 bonus to your initiative and could help get you into the fray much sooner!!

    That was fun to watch : a war drum would've been a good musical instrument. I don't think I've ever sen a roll of an 18 and a 5 : The attack mods are definitely appropriate.

    Random question: I know that the unarmered defences don't stack (con/wis) but do they stack with other non armor sources of AC? Like Mage armor or dragon sorcerer armor?

  • @WASD20

    @WASD20

    9 жыл бұрын

    richard humes No, they don't stack. Page 14, bottom of Armor Class sections says, "If you have multiple features that give you different ways to calculate your AC, you choose which one to use."

    Did you realise that you didn't have to buy the Greataxe? The class comes with some basic equipment options that you glossed past earlier on. Top of page 48 gives a bunch of weapons plus an explorer's pack that all Barbarians start with.

  • @WASD20

    @WASD20

    Hmm. I could be wrong on this, but my understanding was that was sort of like the 'quick build' option if a player didn't feel like rolling for gold and making purchases from the entire list of equipment in chapter 5.

  • @VaughanCockell

    @VaughanCockell

    I can see why you might think that, but the Equipment subsection is part of "Class Features", not "Quick build". It follows "Hit Points" and "Proficiencies" in each class section. Plus, Chapter 5 says in "Starting Equipment", and I quote - "When you create your character, you receive equipment based on a combination of your CLASS and background. ALTERNATIVELY, you can start with a number of Gold Pieces based on your class..." So actually, you mixed the two up, granting the background equipment for free, in addition to starting funds. Could be a House rule though...

  • @VaughanCockell

    It also occurs to me, that starting with class & background equipment, sets a character up as having the essentials, but almost no ready monies - always good to keep the characters poor... ;-)

    Vaughan Cockell Gotcha. I'm reading now and it actually says on p. 143, "When you create your character, you receive equipment based on a combination of your class and background. Alternatively, you can start with a number of gold pieces based on you class and spend them on items from the listed in this chapter." So I think you are correct that taking the equipment listed under 'class features' is the default way. However, I do prefer to roll for gold and shop. As I'm reading this, however, I realize I was taking the equipment listed in the background AND rolling for gold and buying more equipment, which sounds like it's wrong. As I understand it players can A) take equipment listed under class features and background. or B) Roll for gold and buy all your own stuff.

  • @WASD20

    @WASD20

    WASD20 Also, in most of my cases I think I'd actually have LESS starting gold when simply rolling for gold and buying stuff on my own. Then again, maybe that's because I buy too much :)
