  Mount Diablo in the bay area of California, is a sole mountain, there are hills and ridges around it but it is the only mountain in the area.

  Mostly whenever an outcome is uncertain, the players should roll. Use your judgment, because it can get tedious with too much rolling. If it’s something super easy that any character should be able to do, I usually don’t make them roll.

  My biggest issue is that I can’t find anyone local. I’m autistic and my parents absolutely refuse to allow me to make friends. I’m practically desperate to find anyone period at this point. My social anxiety and social paranoia is driving me to my grave and I’m reeeeeally looking to fix this soon

  About the timeline issue of Vecna being a playable antagonist two years after the scene, I think Eddie home brewed it. That’s why the players are so surprised “Vecna is dead! He was killed by Kas!” Which, at that point, was the canon truth.

  Does a player have to declare their reaction before the enemy attacks? I''m struggling to understand how a player can decide how to react once the enemy has attacked, for example... the monster hits you and your "reaction" is to cast a shield spell... effectively negating the attack in the fist place. But if the attack missed then the player doesn't cast the spell. Another example that occured recently in game when a monster hit one of our party members he told the DM that he would use his reaction to attack the monster.... and then get his turn..!!?? What the hell is that? I don't get it.

  Hi, Professor WASD, from 2024, I’m a new player, currently learning the rules. I’m in a group where no one has played before and I am supposed to be the GM. (Please overlook this catastrophic situation) I have a question regarding the different methods of determining a character’s ability scores. It says that for the random method, you use random dice six time. For standard array you have a sum total of 72 score points. And finally with customized ability scores. Isn’t there one method that is objectively best?

  Like, standard array and customized have fixed and controlled outcomes. What’s the argument for random dice? That you may potentially get a stat sum that is above the fixed and controlled outcomes? Seems like a gambling addiction enabler. Especially with how the odds of coming out with a below average character is just as prevalent.

  there is no best method for all. The standard array is best for those who like to play it safe and want all characters to be fairly equal in power level. But … Rolling is fun! Yes perhaps for those who like to gamble. :) Some of us enjoy the excitement of chance, and it can produce some interesting results .

  @@WASD20totally get that. It’s just that i’m coming from the background of eldest bro, ex-competitive pokemon breeder/trainer, fighting game lab monster, custom model kit painting type of stuff. So i like my numbers and accuracy. which, again, i realize is quite the absurd circumstance for someone coming into D&D fresh and new with no surrounding community.

  It's possible to have a sort of Lonely Mountain as long as it's surrounded by lesser foothills, with the main distinguishing factor being it's height. Capulin, in New Mexico, is a great example. It _seems_ lonely, but the land does rise around it. It just happens to be the tallest thing around for quite a distance.

  Owlbear is so much better than roll20 just saying... Im a new dm online not to ttgrpg and its so much more user friendly. And i hook up my phone to the flat screen tv as the player screen and open up the dm screen on my laptops and have the screen laying on the table and stillnuse My minis with my kids.

  I've made two characters when I started playing Dungeons and Dragons. The first character is my main character, and the second is my backup character in case I'm ever killed. 1. Callon Nobleoak, race half elf, class ranger. 2.Thrain Stronghammer, race mountain dwarf, class fighter. I just began making a third character. It's going to be an elf who becomes a sorcerer, and his name is going to be Eragon like the hero in the inheritance cycle series that I finished reading months ago. I'm still trying to figure out what's a good last name for him, and I'm working on his background story at this time.

  just went to my first campaign and I went in blind, my friends were SUPER helpful! I felt bad because I'd stopped and ask questions and they said it was biggie that I'd ask questions and were actually happy I did. Im watching any videos to be prepared for our next meet up 😂
