I dont know if that controversial view of him is true. That's like saying during WW2 Americans were controversial because German citizens got killed. A part of war is the inevitability of that but it seemed like he had the most genuine desire to not hurt others and respect them and their freedoms

In the Achaemenid period, Cyrus first approached the Indian subcontinent by conquering Bakhtar or Balkh, and after him Darius in 517 BC. He captured northwest India.
