If you're into this period in history, I highly recommend listening to the three part 'King of Kings' series in Dar Carlin's 'Hardcore History' podcast. Though he's not a historian Carlin knows his stuff and he's a GREAT storyteller. It's more intense and exciting than Game of Thrones.

karabalikakbalik one may also suggest A history of civilization by will durant book 1 ;Our Oriental Heritage or Herodotus' histories which on the outset seem impracticable both over 10h but as you say the events chronicled are as entertaining as can be. Will Durant's language is like music to any ear even for one such as me who must bear the occasional "Negro" that percolates his masterful account.

Excellent job. As Persian History researchers in Persian Renaissance Movement we appreciate your elite, adorable and strong work regarding to the glory of Persian Empire. The intelectual, cultural and moral outcomes of our civilizations will last powerful and insightful till the end of time. Among hundreds of Persian historical characters and superheroes, Zarathustra, Cyrus the Great, Darius the Great, Ardeshir Papakan and Ferdowsi are Fathers of Iran in different eras (before and after Arab invasion). Not only Iranians but also the world owe them greatly. They are the world heritage.

perfect video it was so accurate i'm not saying these to lower value of your works and it's just a comment from my POW 1. Iran was always iran, the name of country was iran>>> ruler: Achaemenid empire or sassanid empire>>> (Although u mentioned it) 2. Persians weren't from what today called Fars, as in tomb of cyrus the gr8 referred They were from Anshan, Anshan is a place near to Fars close to Elam (Or susa) and in the south they will reach to persian gulf. Fars then created by cyrus and he decided to make cities in Pars. the real reason Persians could become dominant is they were neighbour to Elamian, now that is an interesting part of history, Elamian were so advance in almost everything but they weren't in fight and conquer and all of their time they just defend themselves, they were so advance that historians say they were ahead of their times hundreds of years, and that is where we think Cyrus the great received his manner to be a good king and not killing civilians after he conquered some where. 3. Cumbyses killed himself because he was so upset for killing his own brother and the reason he killed his brother was because of he saw a dream before that in that dream a person named Bardya took his thrown and called himself King of kings and ruled iran, then he decided to kill his brother which he did it in a such a dramatic way (Bardya told him i would never betray you brother right before he die), when he heard about false Bardya he knew that it is too late because, a. He lost many brave soldiers in battle of egypt during sand storms, b. he has killed son of cyrus the great (his own brother), c. people actually didn't like him anymore (That's why they accepted the false Bardya, people weren't fan of egypt war and also the way Cumbyses treated with Egyptians was completely against the way cyrus the great was told) 4. shahanshah didn't end with achaemenid empire, and it actually has a meaning in persian and we know sassanid used it too, which if this comment took attention enough i will explain it more.

Cyrus the Great, in my reading of history, is the actual historic figure that the fictional & symbolic "Abraham" of Jewish Mythology is based on. That is to say, Cyrus, is the true, factual & historical founder of JudeoChristianIslamo monotheism. But I am just a janitor. "His goal was to explain the origin of monotheism, the character of the Jewish people, & their relation to the Christian world which persecuted them so persistently... There is truth in religion, he concluded, not material truth but a historical truth- a historical truth whose reverberations from the forgotten past are felt until the present day." [Legacy of Freud, Jacob Arlow, 1956, Ch. 9: The Study of Religion] "The Median religion was a corrupt form of Zoroastrianism . It has been seen that this creed originated in Egypt with the union of the two rival lines of the Ammono-Hittite Mezahab, and the Horite Tahath or Thothmes. The Mithriac cult was adopted by the Moschi or Cappodocians representing the family of Jabez, Mesha, and Mezahab, by the Beerothites or Parthians to whom Hadar the son-in- law of Thothmes introduced it, by such of the Kenezzites as did not follow the disc- worshipping heretic Bechenaten of Tell-el Amarna, and by the Gekerite Brahmans whose early writings celebrate Mitra with Varuna. The creed to which this worship pertained was a mediating one so far as the Horite and Ammono- Hittite religions were concerned, but it was one of antagonism to other Hittite systems. Ormuzd, or Ahura Mazda, its chief divinity, was the enemy of the demon Ahriman, or Angra -Mainyus, and the evil spirits classified with him appear to represent the chief advocates of the worship of Baal Peor or Merodach in Palestine and Chaldea." [HITTITES: THEIR INSCRIPTIONS & THEIR HISTORY, JOHN CAMPBELL, M.A. , LL.D., CH. XIX: THE ARYAN STRUGGLE FOR SUPREMACY OVER THE HITTITES OF WESTERN ASIA., 1891] "The dreamlike spell of this contemplative, metaphysically orientated tradition, where light and darkness dance together in a world - creating cosmic shadow play, carries into modern times and image that is of incalculable age. In its primitive form it is widely known among the jungle villages of the broad equatorial zone that extends from Africa eastward, through India, southeast Asia, and Oceania, to Brazil, where the basic myth is of a dreamlike age of the beginning, where there was neither death nor birth, which, however, terminated when a murder was committed. The body of the victim was cut up and buried. And not only did the food plants on which the community lives arise from those buried parts, but on all who ate of their fruit the organs of reproduction appeared; so that death, which had come into the world through a killing, was countered by its opposite, generation, and the self-consuming thing that is life, which lives on life, began its interminable course.... For the West, however, the possibility of such an egoless return to a state of soul antecedent to the birth of individuality has long since passed away; and the first important stage in the branching off can be seen to have occurred in that very part of the nuclear Near East where the earliest god - kings and their courts had been for centuries ritually entombed: namely Sumer, where a new sense of the separation of the spheres of god and man began to be represented in myth and ritual about 2350 BC. The king, then, was no longer a god, but a servant of the god, his Tenant Farmer, supervisor of the race of human slaves created to serve the gods was unremitting toil. And no longer identity, but relationship, was the paramount concern. Man had been made not to be God but to know, honor, and serve him; so that even the king, who, according to the earlier mythological view, had been the chief embodiment of divinity on Earth, was now but a priest offering sacrifice in tendance to One above - not a god returning to himself in sacrifice to Himself. The earliest prophet of this mythology of cosmic restoration was, apparently, the Persian Zoroaster, whose dates, however, have not been securely established. They have been variously placed between c. 1200 and c. 550 BC, so that, like Homer(of about the same span of years), he should perhaps be regarded rather as symbolic of a tradition than a specifically, or solely, one man. The system associated with his name is based on the idea of a conflict between the wise lord, Ahura-Mazda," first father of the Righteous Order, who gave to the sun and stars their path," and an independent evil principal, Angra Mainyu, the Deceiver, principle of the lie, who, when all had been excellently made, entered into it in every particle." [The Masks of God: Oriental Mythology, Joseph Campbell, Ch. 1: Signatures of The Four Great Domains, pg. 4,6-7]

Let's nof pfrget Cyrus himself was laden with titles by his death, King of Kings, King of Persian, King of the Universe and all that. Later Roman Emperors would cloack their person in such titles , Africanus, Augustus, Germanicus Maximus and all that, even Queen Victoria used to parade as Queen of India

There’s not enough evidence to confirm this claim. “Greater Kurdistan” was part of the median empire NOT median proper. The Kurdish language shares some commonality with the Parthian language not the median language however it’s not a direct descendant of this labiale either. There’s no way to say Kurdish is more closer to median language than any other Iranian language. Kurds are genetically related to the Medes the same as any other west Iranian group. Also remember Kurds are not one ethnic group.

@Eru Ilúvatar I’m not saying thst he’s kurdish. Nor was cyrus an Iranian because nor Kurds nor Iranians dxisted bsck then but kurds are genetically closer to the medes than iranians. Iran consists of many different ethnicites. west iranians and kurds are very mych related by blood and by god there are only kurds im western part of Iran. Kurds are closer to medes than iranians and Cyrus was median. That’s all I’m saying. I’m not dreaming. I’m just searching for the truth. Herodotus was a very biased source as well. He was more of a story teller than a good historian. Never forget that he was born in the achaemenid ruled Ionia. He probably had many other history books he could look into until Alexander burned Persepolis and all other Achaemenid Libraries in the empire. They really tried to erase Achemenid empire from history and to some extent they succeeded but in the process they accidentally burned babylonian history as well as mesopotamian history. That’s why we know so much of Greece but virtually nothing of persia or babylon or mesopotamia even though we know them to be the cradle of hidtory and thus we can presume thst they had a richer history and culture.
