@Chris Green Cyndi has to go within boundaries that suits the arrangement. I don't think cyndi was trying to keep up with patti. I mean I'magine cyndi singing over the top of patti to out sing her or the other way round it wouldn't sound beautiful like it did. People seen to think it's a competition they are not on the voice they have sold 150 million records between them.. they are performing a song to sound pretty lol. It's not a competition...

@Chris Green well its an opinion isn't it because for mine cyndi wins hands down. The song was arranged so that cyndi sung first and patti last. There was no battle it was just a song. Lol cyndi was probably just not use to someone like patti singing on her song so it probably confused her somewhat. I'm sure doesn't mean she's a better singer get real. They are as good as each other. There's no denying Pattis got talent but they are very different cyndi has better qualities in her voice than patti and vice versa. It's a good match up sounds great. EAR CANDY..!!!!!!!

I'm done. There is no more of me. 75 years old and she can still sing like that?! And Cyndi did well too!

Jordon Carnegie well not Everyone finds Cyndi’s voice appealing either. And as I read the comments, a lot don’t find Cyndi’s voice appealing in this video. Doesn’t mean Cyndi isn’t great. She’s always been fantastic. I don’t think Cyndi outshone Patti here. Definitely not this one. Patti seems lost because she obviously didn’t know the words.

3:18 look on drummers face as he's watching Patti and knowing what she's about to do. They ( Cyndi & Patti ) aren't about who sings harder or softer, they both compliment each other. I liked both the beginning and the second verse equally. One, doesn't have to choose, one can simply say they both sang the song. Peace ☮️ y'all.

I don't know if anyone noticed but Pattie was looking at the teleprompter throughout the first half of the song (obviously didn't know the song by heart). The amazing part is, she got through it without most of us even noticing. Being the great singer that she is, she improvised and adlibed the rest of the way until the end. Years of doing concerts and singing live paid off for her.

I would imagine that she knows the song, BUT with the writer/ originator of the song right there you would want to get every word right! It is very nerve racking to ding a song in front of the person who performed it especially in a tribute situation. I LOVED seeing Patti and Cyndie duet again. I wish they would record together sometime.

Actually Miss Patti LaBelle sounds really good on this particular.... But she is almost 75 years old, yes her voice is not what it was ,it doesn't supposed to be.. but she sounds really good on this video, better than what I've been hearing of her recently, but I've been a die-hard fan of Patti LaBelle and I am 41 years old now.. and I've been rocking it with her ever since... I will always love her, I have watched her come down through the years singing and singing, she has been pouring her heart out for many many years with that voice... I'm so with you! Very few singers can reduce me to tears ! Patti and Cyndi are the exceptions ! I go back over the decades when my best friends , many who've passed before their time would celebrate Patti and Cyndi by having listening party's whenever they released new material! So when I see or hear them together a multitude of memories flood my mind and I feel the prescence of my loved ones! I can't explain it any more than that ! 3:18 Now that's how you turn a song that's already legendary into a Vocal Suicide one! 🌟 3:27 And Cyndi came through with that 6th octave, high head voice note ✨ They complimented each other wonderfully and even after singing for decades, they're still out-singing everyone on the Billboard Hot 100 at the moment! Some are commenting that Cyndi didn't do well but she actually hit many impressive notes however Patti's always had a much larger voice (being a Dramatic Soprano) plus the camera person didn't focus on her when she was hitting those notes.

This was an arrangement I mean cyndi could do all those notes by herself without Patti. Why do people have to turn it to some vocal competition between cyndi n patti they could of just as easily done it a different way i loved the way they arranged it it reminded me of the album of Pattis I bought burnin she is a great singer.

Cyndi couldn't do it. You can see at the end of the song Patti tosses her hand out, shes asking Cyndi which one is going high, Cyndi gestures to her and points up and sings "get up" because she was letting Patti know she was taking it alone, Cyndis voice was cracking, she dropped her head and looked so disappointed in herself. Patti threw a "we love you Gloria" over one of Cyndis breaks. 💔

Ms. Patti can knock it out! Love her....
