    Thank you. The instruction page and everyone else on KZread say to only insert 1/2 turn below the surface, but the threads on my cylinder head cover go well below the surface. Was wondering if it would be okay for me to install the Helicoil well below the surface, so thank you for doing so!

    When using loctite in a blind hole application like this, it's better to apply it into the hole than onto the bolt or insert. Being liquid, the loctite will flow out along the threads while the bolt is inserted.

    Hi mate, that can be risky and may cause cracks, so i never do that. It holds very well applied on bolt anyway.

  • @johngamal141

    Great how-to, but too much loctite, just one drop at the begining of the thread will be sufficient to be able to do capillary action and does not trap air inside.

    You wont be able to breack that thread with 2 counter nuts tight each other, i havent breack the thread because i havent use a torque wrench but because its a nearly 400hp car that things can happend from excess of heat and heavy turbocharger with a heavy custom manifold, so its not always what it looks, the helicoil insert did a great job even on engine mounts , so definately its one of the best thread repair things.

    Hello, when the new thread is finishedl and plan inserting say a M8 Helicoil in, does the Helicoil threads expands a bit inside the new thread or stays fully compressed once in as delivered ? Thanks in advance.

  • @WRCgarage

    @WRCgarage

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hello, it stays compresed exactly as you see it outside as the sharp shape doesn't let it expand inside as will not hold the bolt to be tight then.

    Thanks, made the test with a 15 mm M8 x1.25 Helicoil coiled on a hard wooden 19 mm border to border slat, once fully coiled with tool the Helicoil expanded side to side near the full 19 mm slat width, was wondering if will do the same inside an outboard crankcase. Want to repair a striped thread with a 15 mm Helicoil on a 16 mm blind orifice and if expands will be difficult to remove the extra portion comming out of the orifice, that's why the tech inquiry.

    @@WRCgarage how u can use a 8mm tap for a 8mm bolt? I mean if you want to fit a 8mm bolt then why you first drill a hole more then 8mm using 8.3mm bit and then using a 8mm tap which is tight in that 8.3 mm hole. And then you put a m8 wire thread into that hole ( idk now what is the size of the hole its confusing now lol) then again fit a m8 bolt. How is it possible? Please correct the tap size
