Right on the north edge of it at 9:30. Barely Cat 1 ish. Had a few decent waves of wind, but feels like it's spluttering out for us here. Stay safe, or more likely stay dry lol > P.S. Glad I had 2 weeks worth of "Doom and Gloom" and "imminent devastation" blasted at me from News Media over of this 05U 2 week long Cat 4 cyclone that never existed. I really am sick of news media beating up Doom and Gloom Cat 4 cyclones that don't even exist. Oh look, the low pressure system 05U has a 5% chance of becoming a cyclone on Saturday. Wonder if the news Media can beat that up into a Cat 4 cyclone like the last 3 weeks.

@@reefrebels "Are you in Townsville as well?" Hinchinbrook. Fizzed out pretty fast for us after those first few waves of wind (8:30pm to 9:30pm). By 11:00pm it was that bit of last tail end waves with some choppy gusts but barely enough to blow my hat off. By 12:30am I could see the moon shining through the light cloud. > News media dramatizes everything, so I have no idea what it was like in Townsville, so I hope there isn't too much to clean up. > Have a good AU Day weekend :)

@@reefrebels P.S. On the News Media dramatization: I reported a few Australian News channels for blowing up the whole "OMG! Doom and Glom and imminent devastation" warnings about Cat 4 cyclones bearing down on FNQLD days before the B.O.M. had even issued a "watch" on the 05U low. That sort of misreporting just creates misinformation and panic for no reason. I also reached out to the B.O.M. expressing my concerns about this trend of News media issuing false "Warnings" of high intensity (Cat 4) cyclones before any cyclone has even formed, in the hope that they may reach out and rein in the misleading over hype on cyclone reporting. 3 weeks worth of constant "OMG! Cyclone, the sky is falling!" because of typical monsoon lows with a 5% prediction chance of a cyclone forming in the future. I'm a bit over it lol.
