    Fair enough, I do think Tesla is a great brand and Elon is a smart guy(not legitimate a super genius) but absolute smarter than the average dude. But I seems people tend to lean to far in either side of the appreciation for Elon. Enough hate to discredit his accomplishments and too much saying he is (without joking) he is Tony stark.

    Yeah but it's a top model top trim cyber truck vs a bottom trim bottom model Porsche it's like comparing a Lambo to a civic. Use a top model 911 and that cyber truck will be states behind. We already say how the 911 embarrassed the plaid

    Hate to burst your bubble, but that's not what overdrive is, or how it works....over drive is a gear ratio lower than 1, meaning less than one revolution of engine per revolution of trans, meaning less tq, better economy, it's for highway cruising economy, not going fast....the good news is, if he actually floored it, the automatic would have just downshifted regardless, but turning on OD still had no positive impact on acceleration....

    That's why I stick with Trump. We can have the option to choose if we want gas vehicles or electric vehicles. We can have both, it would be more better, because they won't have to make so many batteries for the cars, which costs even more materials then just normal gasoline vehicles. It's crazy to think, we went from horses, to horses on wheels, to automobiles, to gasoline vehicles, and now electric vehicles. We came so far now, we need a good leader to make sure the world doesn't get mad at each other and start wars... sadly many people hate the US, and want to destroy us.

There were probably millions of views from hater videos breaking this commercial down, nonstop talk on reddit. Lots of free advertising. At the end of the day, you have a truck that still has an amazing quarter mile time, while pulling a porsche no less, fact, and a bunch of people whining about it, but happy to share that information across the internet.

    It is like the Cybertruck beating an F-150(? I think It was F-250 or F-350) in a Tug-of-War, only to find that the Cybertruck was 4wd and Ford was RWD only and the Cybertruck was pulling uphill. All the advantages. It could have won with RWD and only one motor. My guess here is the Porsche is a base 911 (not even 500hp) versus a AWD Cybertruck rocking 1000+hp, while towing a lightened 911. More the 911 was not even being pushed hard. For the Cybertruck to pull the kind of numbers on a drag strip even a base 911 can, while towing an additional 2 tons, would NOT be possible with the tires the Cybertruck has. It is and easy fix. Next big stunt will be Drag racing the "Model R", or "Roadster 2.0" or whatever they will call it, versus say the Koenigsegg Jesko, a Bugatti Chiron, or something (I'd say the Hennessy GT F5 but it has to be something well known), ignoring the fact those cars were developed for MAXIMUM SPEED not drag races. They will be stupidly quick in a drag, rocking 1000+ as a minimum buy-in, but their real mission is 300+mph not 0-60in under 2.0 seconds.

    I have been lucky enough to drive a Tesla plaid and a Porsche 911 (not a GT3). The Tesla had the most stomach wrenching acceleration I have ever felt and it is a joy to drive for a commute. However if you are going out to “drive” say a beautiful winding canyon road, I’m taking the Porsche. They both produced the same shit eating grin on my face just for different reasons.

    I cannot compare, as I've never driven either, though I have been a passenger a few times. But... due to a previous job, I have had the opportunity to dive a variety of very nice cars and the standout winner for producing my own shiteating grin when it came to not only acceleration, but also unadulterated power, handling and comfort was an E55 Kompressor. That car was a fucking Beast.

    If you're out for a Sunday drive in the countryside, I guess either would be fine. If you're actually going to compete in drag race tournament, or any racing discipline, you're going to DNF. The Tesla or any electric car will overheat and go into turtle mode, before running out of juice. That initial kick in the pants is all they have going for them, due to the weight of the batteries, they are terrible around corners. Unlike a real car, you cannot load a metered quantity of fuel to gain a slight weight advantage, batteries weigh what they weigh, charged, overheated or dead. As for reliability, ignoring the insane cost of battery replacement and the fact EVs are subsidised. There is a number of >500K ICE cars in the world, my brothers 86 BMW 635CSi is on 300K without any engine work to speak of aside from belts, alternator and some hoses. There is a million mile Volvo P1800 still on the original engine. There is also a million mile Tesla S, but to get there, it consumed 9 drive motor units.

  • @Tiigerr

    @Tiigerr

    7 ай бұрын

    @@MrClassiccarenthusia your criticisms are outdated. The main difference between the Plaid and previous generations is that it fixes the torque curve to near flat and keeps pulling towards the top end. It's top end pull is now better than most sports cars. It also consistently runs the same performance down into the lower half of SoC, whereas before it would taper off quickly as soon as you got below 90~80%. And that extends to the Cybertruck now as well which may be even more consistent than the Plaid at different SoCs. The long-term reliability is still a question mark since they're so new, but some studies have shown that over the life of a Tesla you will spend about half on maintenance vs an average combustion vehicle, so higher battery costs is not as relevant if that money is saved elsewhere and it still ends up being cheaper overall. We shall see how this develops over the years.

    There are ICE cars that will smoke most EV's. Yes, the typical street car isn't going to smoke a Tesla, but it's pretty easy to find cars that will. For example the Cybertruck in beast mode has a claimed 0-60 of 2.6s, the Porsche 911 is like 4s...the BASE 911 is a slow car by most standards. The 911 Turbo S, however, advertises a 2.6s 0-60, but people have managed 2.2s in testing with press cars. There are plenty of other cars out there that will beat a Cybertruck that isn't pulling anything.

    It’s the torque from the electric motor that makes it so quick. That’s the base model 911. It costs a few thousand more than the Cybertruck. The 911 Turbo S is twice the price and goes faster than the Cybertruck by about half a second on a quarter mile track. The only difference between the base 911 and 911 Turbo S is the engine. It varies model to model so they will be able to improve on it, but I had a friend with a model 3 and he was worried he wouldn’t make it into work during a cold spell because it’s range was too low and it wasn’t charging enough overnight. The problem is worse for rural communities and street parkers because they have to charge outside and commute longer distances. People don’t tend to think of every scenario(as scene in the replies to your comment). So, they will work for some people up north, but they pose challenges to many of us. P.S. I just live in Pennsylvania so many states it gets even colder.

In Tesla I believe it’s all electromagnetic solenoids meaning timing is so much quicker. The only downside Tesla is the weight of the vehicle. Electric vehicles are fast; there’s no denying it. Electricity provides immediate torque whereas an internal combustion engine needs to work up to RPMs. But charging time and driving range are two big marks against them. Plus the infrastructure needed to provide power during longer trips and the massive amounts of minerals needed to manufacture them cause harm to the environment that the greens insist the vehicles are supposed to save us from.

The dodge demon 170 is gas and it's the fastest production vehicle in the world. 0-60 1.66 seconds. So why are u saying the plaid is the fastest production car? It's max is 175mph there's tons n tons of faster cars. The plaid is quick. Is it fast for being a poor mans fast car? For cheap budget average Joe's that want a fast car but can't afford a porsche lucid lambo ferrari? Yea that's who teslas are for. The new poor mans fast car for dorks wearing apple watches. Speeding in an EV is like having sex with earplugs in. Tesla owners talk shit about better brands becuase they cant afford them. No atheletes no rappers drive a tesla. If all u care about is speed why don't u have the lucid sapphire air oh yea it's 200k u can't afford a real high end luxury sports car. Stop playing man. The tesla model s plaid was 130k last year and now 80k NEW. Biggest cost of owning a tesla is depreciation. What will it cost 3 years from now? Teslas look like traffic. Getting a nice car is not supposed to look like a retirement car. No one double takes or takes a pic of a tesla. That's what makes a car cool when ur on the road or at a car meet. And in terms of performance gas cars are still far ahead. The tesla plaid track package is 43rd in nurumbring lap time. Braking,handling, and less weight is what matters for high tier sports cars that actually have LUXURY. Head turning unique engines. Revs downshifts. U sacrifice all that 😂

    1st of all, it's not a truck, it's a car with a bed. At our ranch in Jefferson County, CO, we had a '94 Ford F350, crew cab, dually with a 460 c.i.d engine (less power than current Power Stroke Diesels). We could haul our 27ft goose neck stock trailer, loaded with 8 horses, over Vail pass, not going under 45MPH. In Vail, we could turn around & drive back to the ranch without refueling & make the round trip in, at most, 3 hours. Telsa's truck, if it will even take a goose neck hitch, would be at its max trailer load (over, for the rear wheel drive model). The calculations I've seen for towing a maximum weight trailer estimate approximately a 130 mile range for a low profile trailer, on level ground, at 65MPH. With a high profile trailer, max load, 75MPH, to the pass & then as fast as it could go over the pass, it would probably would not make it to Vail & probably have trouble making it the 85 miles to the pass' summit. I know that isn't what a Tesla truck is meant to be used for. Just making a point that EV's out here in the west are next to useless & more than useless if you haul loads in the mountains. Biden & the Democrat, coastal elites are clueless! That's why Ford has said, even before cutting back production because of lack of sales, that they would not be attempting to transition as quickly as other manufacturers, because EV's don't fit with their customers needs.
