I really appreciate this series because I’m currently at a crossroads where I’ve been learning web development for the past 3 months and really love it but I also see that Cybersecurity has so many opportunities for self learners. I can’t say I know for sure what I will choose but wanted to say thank you for this video

I really love these CS and Cyber side by side comparision videos that you and Luca do. I'm making a complete career change and am working on my Cyber Security AA degree presently. The more I learn, the more I realize how many different directions I can go in Cyber. I'm also realizing the value of trying to learn Linux and Python in the evenings, but I'm also studying for my Sec+ that I plan on taking Aug 1st. I have to force myself to slow down and focus on one thing at a time. Luca is SO correct when he said that we need to not just imitate what we see but we need to understand the "why" and meaning behind it. Such solid advice. Thank you again for making these videos. They really do help people like myself that are trying to decide between Cyber Security or Coding path and break into the industry. Subbing to Luca's channel now.

Devs and CS generally don’t get along the larger the company is… it starts becoming an immovable object meets an unstoppable force when development is being told to solve a problem and CS has no idea what they are doing so they think everyone should stay in the Stone Age and never evolve because it’s too risky and don’t want to lose their job.

Every time I go on Reddit everyone seemingly says that Cybersecurity is a Mid to Senior level career field. Their thoughts are getting a Cybersecurity degree are that it isn’t good because cybersecurity degree programs are in their infancy developmental stage. I am pursuing a CIS degree and looking to pivot into Cybersecurity. Thanks for getting these videos with several thoughts from different people! 😊

Main point I would like to share is that its sometimes important to be as efficient with your resources when learning cybersecurity or software engineering. It is not necessary to spend exuberant amount of money to learn. There are ways to learn all these things while still being as gold (money) efficient as possible. If you are resourceful enough you can learn many of these things for free.

I really appreciate the ending where you address the current job market. I feel like that’s a topic that doesn’t get addressed enough or when it does, it’s ALWAYS in a doomer context. Addressing it here in the the video made the conversation feel very in touch which I really enjoyed.

Haven’t the watched the entire video yet I wanted to add in WGU school where they have bachelors degree including cybersecurity degree which is quicker and better than regular 4 year college. I wanna go for a finance degree and also if I could masters in economics because I’m interested into that but for IT I can get certs and classes at udemy for python I’m sure I could get in if I wanted to .

@@JDMorris81 Hey, I am finishing my first term about 30% done with 2 gen ed classes transferred in. I like that I haven't had to wait to move on when I am ready and I can accelerate. D426/427 the databases/SQL classes slowed me down a bit becuase the zybooks material is so dry lol. It feels a lot like self -earning, I use codeacademy/udemy/w3Schools/KZread in addition to the course materials/cohort sessions and so far I never have felt like I don't know where or how to figure out an answer. Hello Sandra how are you ? Thanks for your videos they have helped me a lot throughout my career So I have a question, I just got my first opportunity to enter the software field, I was giving the position associate software engineer in my company however I don’t have a degree I’m self taught and have taken multiples courses, do you think it’s worth to still go to college and take the degree for a future pay increase or now that I have the job as a software engineer is not necessary as I will build the necessary experience if I ever want to apply to a higher Paying job

Yes bro. You'll have to find a way and go back to an online college to get a degree in 6months. It will be helpful, and you don't have to have the fear of being terminated anytime because you don't have a degree. So go for it. Best of luck

I have had the same question in my mind when I started just like you. I think the degree mostly helps with getting a job and negotiating a competitive salary. It is likely that a company would pick a candidate with a degree over one without a degree. However, when you actually start working, the output and value you provide is what matters most, and your employer/team will be able to see what kind of contributions you bring to the table. Once you get some experience under your belt, your knowledge and work experience will be able to make up for not having a degree. In short, I would recommend a degree, but you can absolutely have a successful career without one.
