    A cloned meat leg, or a leg from the BodyBank, isn't too expensive. If you have the cash and time, they can grow you a replacement part. The BodyBank is more "take what you get" and "while supplies last". On the downside, people on the street know that an intact leg or organ is worth cash, and some places don't ask too many questions on where you found it as long as it's in good condition.

    Usually how it goes. Johnny was so narrow minded and enraptured by tunnel vision that he couldn't tell who were the real enemies and friends. The corps basically treated him like a 6 year old throwing a tantrum and not only got rid of him, but also let him think he was in control, which quieted him down and eliminated him as a threat in multiple ways at the same time. He never realized he was being manipulated, which is what the corpos wanted, although ironically both rogue and alt, women he considered to be less intelligent than him, did realize they were being manipulated and knew that they wouldnt be able to tell johnny, cause he wouldnt have listened anyways.. to any corps, both in cp77 universe and irl, you aren't a person, you're property, a number, a tool which is disposable at any given point, and there is ALWAYS someone above the guy you think is at the top of the food chain.

    Its incredible how powerful both Arasaka and Militech are, to be able to do what super power countries do. Mercenaries, hide/be scot free from war crimes, do proxy wars, etc. I also tend to forget how "traditionalist", Saburo is. He, at least partially, still is stuck in the WW 2 Japanese Empire's mindset. But its also funny, that the one to do most damage, wasn't Arasaka or Militech, but Bartmoss. A noticeable Merc who, even tho had Militech support, very likely choose to make and deploy RABIDS/DataKrash without his supporter greenlight. In a way, being in a space station (or a random tiny island) seems like the best place to live in the Cyberpunk universe.

    Cyberpunk as a genre also gives us insights of what the future could be if we let corporations and powerful individuals/groups amass power. Private military companys or pmcs are reemerging into the global scene. You had blackwater in the iraq war. You now have the wagner group fighting in ukraine. It won't be far off to have a corporation that could challenge nations in the near future.

  • @SusCalvin

    @SusCalvin

    Жыл бұрын

    Warfare between the corporations is much more about sabotage and spying. They don't field mass armies the same way the nation-states in the EU, Japan and the Americas can. A lot of troops the corps have on paper are security goons in place to hinder said saboteur strike forces, corporations with more sprawling physical assets to protect (like SovOil and Petrochem) have more people because these security guards swell their numbers. Europe still has proper armies around that fight on behalf of different EU interventions. Things are a lot different when the nation-states decide to have a go.

  • @viktoriyaserebryakov2755

    @viktoriyaserebryakov2755

    @@icarus387 Me thinks you don't know how prevalent private armies already are. Most people do not. Not only is it common but everybody takes part in it and not only do countries hire them but also run them. China for example fired hundreds of thousands of military personnel then shifted them over to a 'security company' used to 'defend' their foreign interests. They're just security guards with tanks bro. Or in the Ukraine war the US pretends not to be involved so they gave Ukraine infinite amount of money to hire US armed, funded, trained and recruited private armies. See? No US boots on the grounds. Technically. PMCs are canon fodder in all modern wars, conflicts or even just international economic interests. These people are all over Africa and have been for a long time. Corporations won't challenge nations. Corporations will BE nations. Either they will be one and the same or kept on a leash.

    my fan theory of johnny silverhand is that he did meet saburo arasaka and the scene where he meets him is true. Just slightly fucked with by his delusions to change his perspective. I think Johnny was already a captured engram at this point. and saburo (or maybe saburo's engram? it's obvious he would have way more freedom in mikoshi than the other victims) was just interrogating Johnny as he was already an engram. and johnny being killed with soulkiller is just arasaka torturing his engram. Johnny's egotism (and honestly him being an engram; constantly being tortured and staying in stasis for around 50 years) altered how he remembers it, making him think he wasn't an engram and that the interaction happened right after the explosion

    @@jackvernian7779 That sounds a lot like 2020 Johnny. Adam Smasher's big rivalry is with Blackhand. Smasher takes it as a personal insult that people consider Morgan the greater solo, despite how much metal Arasaka fits him with and how much he piles up his bodycount. Morgan just has more experience and wits than Smasher.

    That is the starting adventure right out the main book in 2020. At that point you are just goons on the street in Night City. Johnny shows up, says Alt has been kidnapped and proceeds to round up any pals he can find to help. You do a jaunt where you hit the streets finding out what's happened. That is the ending though, Johnny gets to her, finds her body and just picks it up and out of the office after killing the Arasaka goons who got her.

    Johnny’s flashback isn’t really meant to be grandiose it’s just him trying to piece things together. Think about it like this, you run into Adam smasher get shot and wake up as an engram. The only people who have soul killer is arasaka -> Adam smasher works for arasaka -> Adam Smasher did not kill him -> somehow got to arasaka -> Arasaka didn’t kill him -> he gets turned into engram for??? -> punishment? As you see, this is how he pieced it together, and honestly it makes sense I mean he didn’t know that Murphy had a soul killer so that was his only logical way of breaking it down.

    Answer me this: The internet as we know it today is essentially just a bunch of pcs connected to each other, and servers that hold insane amounts of data act as the hubs for it. How is it possible that the old net in Cyberpunk's universe still exists after the crash? Wouldn't it make sense to just shut down the servers where the old net is located to avoid the dangers of trying to access it, and starts fresh? Is the one aspect of cyberpunk that I don't understand.

  • @WatchmanGamingLore

    @WatchmanGamingLore

    Жыл бұрын

    I don’t have a canon answer for you, but I’ll give you my best guess: Given the chaos of the datacrash, it might not be possible for Netwatch to track down all servers and rogue AI might be working to hide them. Supposedly Alt commandeered the net infrastructure of Hong Kong to make a home for victims of Soulkiller. Most modern networks are “fresh” and don’t have any connection to the old net. The Blackwall is intended to keep out anyone that does try to connect to it and prevent any spillover into connected systems.

    I wish youtube would have a base volume, Some peoples videos are so loud I have to turn them down. Most the time, their music is loud and I can't understand a thing they are saying. Here, I have the volume almost ALL the way up and it still sounds like the guy is mumbling. Then I click the next video and my neighbors 3 doors down can here every detail in the youtubers voice. I can't even watch this, it would be like if I could make my writing 50x smaller, you can tell I said something but you wouldn't be able to tell what it said. Cachet can mean "prestige," "medicine to be swallowed," or "an official seal," and is pronounced "cash-ay." So Johnny being a deserter helped his....prestige? What a confusing use of the word, but ok, I guess it is used in the game but I had to look that word up and then start the video over to see what it meant in your sentence. So....good luck but fck this noise

Small details like "who lead the team, who was the netrunner, who put the nuke down, and johnny probably said "ME, ME, ME" He was a frontman for a hardcore punk band, in our world they go hard, (i could only imagine how anti authoritarian younger, non engram Johnny is.) Fifty years of lying to your interrogators can make you think it's a truthful statement. I always say I'm having a good day even if I'm not and by the end of the day I think I had a good day, imagine how certain 50 odd years would get ya,
