Street Samurai... I still have a character sheet from Cyberpunk Shadowrun dated September 1995. I remember one funny adventure. After my guys and me got payed I returned to my favourite Jumphouse (Bar) in the Downtown of Seattle to relax, when a corporate drekhead entered and threatened the owner that he might make sure his bar will be closed within the hour. My Monofilament Whip made short work of him. I put him in a bodybag and fed him to the dogs. My GM never sent a corporate dog to my favourite Jumphouse ever again.

No street samurai has ever died in their bed.

Good synopsis of the various Solo roles. I LOVE that you emphacised the need to maintain "humanity" because you work with people. To many folks seem to forget you can't be a soulless killing machine. You have to deal with your client and almost always bystanders.

@@Kazuliski They have a Neo Tribe source book. Would be nice to have dlc. That fat guy in the footage with what looks like a shotgun gave me a hillbilly vibe, and it didn't look like he was in a heavy urban area. Still not rural, but city outskirts maybe. I think rural areas unrealistically took the hits because the guys making the tabletop game live in the city. When realistically dense population centers would see the biggest losses due to disease, biological attacks, nukes (population centers are secondary targets), ecological disasters (earthquakes, pollution, etc), and war.

there is no hoping, i will absolutely choose Morgan Blackhand. i've run as Corp Solo and Street Samurai, with either having opportunities for bodyguard work and bounty hunting - though it's more "asset retrieval" when under a Corp's thumb, but i completely agree with *fantazjo.*

That is actually not a good example. Adam J was already at start very recognisable. High profile operative in wealthy corporation. Top end cyberware at start only upgraded in time. In this game u will not have that start. U will be the underdog that will build up ( or not) hes fame. With very limited recouces, unknown to the world.

Also there is another major difference between said 2 games. Adam J could haul heavy multi barreled machinegun + rocket launcher in hes backpack. Long sniper rifle? Not a problem. In old cybeprunk all weapons had concealability factor and anything bigger than big handgun/small SMG was very impractical since it was extremly hard to hide and was prone to attract police attention very often. Yes there were massive autocannons with recoil dampeners in game too but those were basically never in play ( unless against the player :) ).

I mean... yeah, Samurai sounds like my kind of gig

One thing I really hope is in this game like you said is bounty hunting. That would be sick. I would think it is. Would love to be able to pickup contracts like in the witcher, only with humans instead of beasts. It would also be a really cool mechanic if you could capture bounties alive and get more money for it.

You could hunt down criminals and kill them, or tie them up and bring them back to the sheriff's office for extra money. Maybe RDR2 is like that as well, but I don't know for sure because I've barely started playing it.

Interesting choice

While my intention from what we know is to play a heavily cybered Techie with a little bit in Solo for combat competency and choosing Blackhand as my childhood hero. I am honestly not sure what label I would tie to my character. I want him to fight the more violent gangs and oppressive corps (Maelstrom, Scavengers, Arasaka) while making alliances with the more reasonable ones (Brainiacs, Trauma Team). Much more book smart than street, but still "cool" enough to not buckle under stressful situations. Maybe Silverhand would have been a better hero if I didn't want to be on the front lines so to speak.

Difficult to say at this point. Naturally a video game cannot give the same amount of freedom of as the P&P, but I suspect CDPR can certainly draw inspiration from these Solo variants.

I played the game for more than twenty years. If you want to buy Cyberpunk 2020 books check out R Talsorian Games

A little chrome never hurts, but I'm rather attached to, well, myself. Besides, there's not many jobs you can't handle with a little reflexware, a good rifle, a decent plan, and a half-klick between you and the bad guys. As for the few that you can't, well, that's what they make Peacemakers for.

i would most likely go with bounty hunter or street samurai. it's like Zaeed Massani said killing on salary is too easy. He works hard to get ever job. It makes him care about who he's hunting. Else it's just a name on a piece of paper which means nothing to no one.

I'm a year late on most of this content but why is it not getting waaayyy more views? The content is great and very well spoken, and we're a month from release too...

Nomad Street Samurai. I work for the betterment of the clan. My loyalty is to the clan alone, after all nothing matters more than family. I'll take any job as long as it doesn't lead trouble back home. Bounties, stealing, guarding, sabotage, escourting, scouting, whatever you need, I asure you i'm capable. And expensive. But if you want the job done, and done right, i'm your best choice. Thinking this will be the kind of character i'll be playing in Cyberpunk.

Is it bad that I can name almost every source book that the images used are from 😂 gods I love this system and the lore that’s behind it.

probably bounty hunter, samurai, cyber soldier but on limb replacement wonder if it will just be if your able to buy it/get it or if there is a system in 2077 where you can get your arm totally fucked during a job make it out alive then get to choose a cyber replacement if you can afford it or get stuck with a basic then get the good one you want. since they said there is now mission failed restart and try again in 2077

Hopefully, if U can still pick your childhood hero (fingers crossed), Morgan Blackhand is who I would pick. I also hope U can meet him in the game. If so, it would be awesome if he was voiced by either Liam Neeson or the voice actor of Geralt of Rivia.

it would be interesting if there was a side character that for reasons would be dependent of player choices (types of implants and cosmetics and equipment and some life/story choices) with quest origin like : retrieve that can't be fulfilled because customer died or brain damaged or someone who wats to be under our wings or is a prototype betwen flesh and metal or simly need to hide (a maid(hehe) or solo in training or finaly finished Alt Cunningham's body that in order to resurrect needed to leave a lot of memory from cyberspace behind and is now in proces of rehabilitation) ....... just a little fun idea for side character and mayby potential for romantic relationship (with additional choices like sell/give to someone or kill or ignore) ....... a little fun fantasy from fantazjo's starved mind

Honestly, I am excited to play a street samurai, it's always been my favorite in these types of settings ^^

Tbh my throwing knives mixed with a sandy and double jump make for one fast hitman build

Somewhere between the soldier and the samurai if I was going to go for a minimalist build it would probably be between the bounty hunter in the samurai

I don't know anything about Cyberpunk origins. I stumbled across this channel in my interest of understanding more. Does the game actually have all of these classes and options? My perception of the game is that you'll be able to play only as a bounty Hunter. How many jobs can you play as? Is any of this confirmed? Thanks to whoever can answer my questions!

In Cyberpunk 2077 you don't pick a class, but will pick skills from Solo, Netrunner & Techies to suit your own playstyle. This is more backstory based on 2020.

I suggest you dudes download kenshi and play as the Skeleton race, while you wait for cyberpunk 2077

„I Robot“ is quite good I also recommend the „Ghost in the Shell“ movie I didn’t watch the anime though it is said it is better. There seem to be a few good anime cyberpunk movies on Netflix, but I didn’t watch them as I am searching mostly for a good series. If you are also interested in books I can say Warhammer 40.000k Has some themes of cyberpunk (it has many themes of many genres) and I heard there to be a few books from a civilian point of View on the Makropole worlds(basically Corousount) The Goverment Is somewhat a Theocracy, a oligarchy and a dictatorship, but just one half, the other one is ruled by the Mechanicus a kind of church for technology they mix theology with Technologie they directly rule the factory worlds and ain’t that different to a megacorp. But I don’t know if that fits it is an estimation. On games regard there are a few Moro down shorter, like Neo Chrome. But I honestly didn’t play that one far(still thought it ain’t bad) One thing to the end it might be a cause of the extended edition but the old Blade runner seemed to my family rather slow and boring, they mostly experience the movie, while I thought about it while watching, the music is tenacious but not from an action movie I still liked it but some people might not enjoy it

The term street samurai was first used in Neuromancer, am I right?

I don’t think you can be a cop or even work with them, but I would like to a be a cyber counter terrorist operative. A specialist in hacking and tactical skills. Something similar to Major Motoko Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell.

Well I am currently having a few playthroughs in mind: first of all a nomad from a Nomad nation(which only exists in my head canon) solely committed to bounty hunting and similar things. Now make this nomad nation basically the Mandalorian Empire and you have it. So this Char is loyal to his clan specifically and is going to a city (here night city) to earn his money in this way also partially for training if his service for the nation is required) he is a bounty hunter but he ain’t inhuman, he is opportunistic but not cruel. He does things because they are needed to be done for a job to be successful and he never breaks a contract. I take bounty hunter here from the Star Wars meaning (yeah a fanboy is kinda sitting here) which basically is the meaning of Solo so he would also do robberies if the boss pays him to get this and that but not for the robberies itself. The skills would be very verified as he needs not only to be known (so street cred) but also to be kinda sneaky to find the best way in but also to hit very hard to succeed, following I would not necessary put much into raw body strength but rather in tool based attacks and not necessary use that much of hacking and such but rather try to sneak around with tools and observing the location before hand, also the charachter is very likely to buy an Armor if there is one. This is somewhat of a medium path between sneaky and brutal, between Corp and Gang. Another idea would be a corporate lady which try’s to use the net as good as possible and general thinks that meat is weak she would also be into science etc. and would exchange everypoddibke but if her body just for the sake of it, she prefers order and securely over chaos and Freedom. She would still maybe do jobs for gangs if the payment is right as this gets her closer to being fully mechanically. Something like street cred seems not necessary for her Number three is one of the last ones I really thought about more than a second he is a street kid a rough man favoring raw power and intimidation over everything else he wants to be scared but he still has morals he would rob to get money but very unlikely attack somebody without any cause. The skills are obviously rather close combat and survivability(maybe this is my fists only run) One other Chat I thought about would be somebody hating every cybernetic but he needs to implant he uses close combat but with more complex weapons he has a good heart and tries to find his place in the world. He would also despise biotech stuff. And just for the sake of it some honorable mentions: 1.Basically a space marine of his holy majesty. 2. Death/cyberpsycho with a functioning brain evendue this isn’t even in the game he wants to kill everyone and transform into an Allmoghty AI ruling the world(that you can’t do that in the game is clear to me) ) 3. A European Agent (just if they have a bigger role in the Game) 4. A Anarchist Rebell(just to see what happens if you let these AI‘s free and some similar stuff) 5. something with the exotics (I am just curious how these mechanics will be)

I don’t know why but all I could imagine was wolverine claws when you said get a weapon in a cyber arm

Dunno why but when I hear "Bounty Hunting",I always think about Jango Fett or Boba Fett lol. I gotta make a character that represents them in a future playthrough,maybe the 2nd or the 3rd,hopefully with some cool looking combat metal armor and some badasses dual wilding laser pistols. And a cool assault rifle too :D

@@Kazuliski I honestly would love a Star Wars RPG made by CDPR in the future. Sadly EA and Disney are ruining it so badly. I'm not really a fan of the new SW. I miss the old thing tbh.

@@Kazuliski I've only watched 2 new SW movies so far. Rogue One and Solo. I really liked Rogue One,it gave me the true SW vibes,while Solo didn't get me that much. It was kinda boring.

Having a tough time specializing, can't figure out if I want mantis blades or the monowire either. Just kind of a jack of all trades so far. Might be leaning towards netrunning and blades

Street Samurai sound more like ronin.

Just how melee heavy is street samurai, because I'm in my element most when I'm in hand to hand combat (knifeing in COD) but I also use guns when im forced to and close range isn't in my favor.

Will we be able to have no cybernetics at all? I think it would be really cool to make a character who has none, in a world where everyone else has them. It would put you at a significant disadvantage, but that would be half the fun. Really curious to see just how far our options and choices go.

I think I'll start out as a bounty hunter because I feel such a Blade runner vibe from this game. I can't wait to get my hands on this come on November 19th! 😎🇺🇸

I plan for Morgan Blackhand on the first go. Hard to tell what kind of solo, but I’d reckon a cyber soldier would fit my usual attack.
