CX500 Scrambler Build - Electronics Tray Fabrication - EP12

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Honda CX500 Scrambler Build Electronics Tray Fabrication! In this video I get the CX500 back in the shop and start on getting all of the electronics planned out before making a tray for the battery, solenoid, and NWT Morty system to sit in. I build my trays consistently with the intent of being welded into the bikes and I show that process here.
Look for updates on mounting the ignition switch, horn, spark units, taillight, and more in the next video!

I used 16 gauge steel for the tray itself and some 1/8" angle + flat stock for the rear brace as well as 3/16" flat stock for a front brace.

    So glad I am going back to watch the build of this bike. It showed up in one of your newer videos so I wanted to see the process. I keep thinking nah...that isn't gonna look right...then it does. This bike is sick in all the best ways m8!

    Honestly, I would like you to talk even more in your videos,, not only about your thought process. I would love to hear what you know about the bikes you are working on, like history of the bike, common issues, what can fail, what was failing in it's production history, major issues in its history, basically everything you might know ;). But I would not tell you how to make your content :) and I still enjoy watching your videos as they are. So keep up grate work.

    Wondered what kind of music you “really” listened to in the background.🤣 Don’t know if you’ve heard of Charles Bradley…”The Screaming Eagle of Soul”, but he’s good to listen to while tinkering on the bike. Also any TOOL when using tools.👍🏻 It’s looking good as always!

    First thing first, great videos! I was wondering if you could use 2 Antigravity 4cell in parallel instead of an 8 cell. I know the cost will rise quite a bit but I feel they could be easier to hide. On a related note, would a 4 cell be enough to start a mid size bike? Do you use any type of BMS with the ION batteries?

  • @BrickHouseBuilds

    @BrickHouseBuilds

    2 жыл бұрын

    Thanks Matteo! You technically could but it would present more challenges than it is likely worth. The ag801 is not bad to hide. The 4 cell is small for a cx500. It will crank it over but not for long. I will soon have a lithium ferro phosphate battery with built in BMS that is of equal size to the 801 but much safer, lighter, and less expensive

    How do you decide to go with pods over an airbox? I know aesthetics make pods the obvious choice but is there anything you tend to weigh in your head when deciding between the two?

  • @BrickHouseBuilds

    @BrickHouseBuilds

    2 жыл бұрын

    When doing a custom bike so much gets relocated in the name of changing or upgraded components. It is mostly cosmetic preferences but a lot of times things will go where the airbox use to reside. In this instance the customer wants an "open triangle" which means you can see through the side of the bike. Can't do that with an airbox.

    I've had mixed success. I've had two melt down but it was my fault. I've had a customer kill another because they let it discharge too much from which they can't recover. I sell my own LiFe 4l batteries now with their own management system for ease of use
