    Thanks, I've just replaced both sides with replacement power struts from Poland on my UK Mazda CX-5 2019. Mine didn' t come with bracket, but just raising the clip was enough to wriggle it off. Took

    @@Driver67 Yes although I suspect mine cost less than OEM parts and paying for someone to do it. In sterling I think it was around £360 for the pair including VAT and import duty (now that we're not part of the EU anymore.)

    Thanks! Insert the new ones on the chassis side first as they will jamb on the window trim otherwise.

    I just wanted to say “Thank You” for such a great instructive video on replacing this part. The right side strut in my 2017 CX-5 GT died, and following you extremely thorough video, I replaced this part in less than 30 minutes. One of my buddies put his code reader on it and identified it was the right side, so I knew which part to order. Ordered an OEM part online from a local dealership for $320USD and had the part the next day. As I said, following your instructions made it easy. Thank you again! Would love to know how much this would have costed to repair at a shop!

    nice! I'm glad you found it helpful. Mazda dealer just told me to replace both sides. Its nice to know that a code reader can determine which side rather than the stealership saying to replace all

    possibly some rattling sound coming from the strut when operating tailgate. Since this video, my other strut has not failed yet but has made some rattling sound for some time. I expect the other unreplaced strut will fail soon

    Looks like mine has just failed (haven't figured out which side yet) and the cheapest new one I can find online is around US$500, it is still close to CAD$700. I have a forwarding address in the U.S. so hopefully the final shipping cost will be reasonable for me. This is insane considered that the entire liftgate itself costs less than $1.5K!

    My 2018 CX5 is having the same issue. Mazda service are waiting to get verification on whether one or both have failed (motor strut)... they have quoted $1500 per side. Do you have a recommendation on how to source this part aftermarket?

  • @Driver67

    @Driver67

    $1500 is alot unless parts price have went up alot since I made this video. Maybe get a second opinion on replacing pricing. If my memory serves me well, parts is $750 a piece. Labor price should be 1 hour and definitely not more than 2 hours. Sorry I do not know of aftermarket struts for it
