I'm sorry for your lose . I'm sure you went through hell growing up with out him . I'm sure it ripped your whole family up too . I know all to well how it is to loose a loved one from accidents . Its makes it much harder to deal with then a long Illness . And I know how that is too been through it both ways . It Sucks. But just remember that our Loved ones are with us for life in our hearts . Cool video. I will start rebuilding my 57 CJ 5 this summer, right after I get my 1952 M38A1 running. Those old four bangers were not built for speed. CJ 5 engines were the Willys Hurricane F head 4 cyl, Buick 225 Dauntless, 192 Perkins diesel in Britain, AMC's 232,258 and 304. In the 80s it came with GMs Iron Duke. FYI... It's "CJ5 with four wheel drive..." (Not "A four wheel drive.") This brings back so many memories, I memorized every word of every song of his when I was a kid, my dad out driving trucks and me out playing with our dodge power wagon 4x4 (too young for a licence. lol). All these idiots always bitching about "CJ7 vs. CJ5" etc. ... It's just a video. A clever one. Get over yourselves and just enjoy something for a change. Sheesh.

I spent a good part of high school riding right by the Nishnabotna river on my dirt bikes. It was fun to cruise down the levee. He said a yard wide foot deep but it’s really quite a bit bigger then that. It was also popular to get a cooler and float down the river with beer and get picked up at a bridge. Cool discovering this.

After listening to C.W. music for awhile on my eight track, I traded my cutlass in for a 1975 CJ5. Boy was that a fun rig! Had a winch up front big lift big tires. I'm on my 10 th jeep now. It'll probably be my last one. I'm an old man now, but can still wheel! God Bless!
People love making collage accompaniment for C W Mccall's stories. And it's no wonder, the man knows how to describe utter chaos..

I'm a CJ5 man myself, and a huge fan of C.W. when ever I go wheeln' with my friends in thier early broncos I jam this tune from the other side of mud wholes and hill climbs they cant get to, which isn't very often.LOL
I was ten when this song was new. I'm 57 now, and it's still funny as ever. _And,_ my brother actually _had_ a CJ5... And we actually ran from cops in it!
My brother Bob loved this song back in the 70's.He moved on to CCR in the late 70's. Sadly he fell from a cliff while we were fishing back in 79. He died from the fall. He was 34 day's from his 16th birthday. He died doing what we all loved doing. Fishing! I turned 15, 40 day's after he died.

Sorry for your loss. We spend our lives burying those we love until we are buried by those who love us. Or by strangers. I hope you've had a good life for both of you.
Great job! Thanks for the trip down memory lane! I have the album, yes, that's correct, VINYL, with this song on it! Wore out a cassette of the same album in friends CJ-7! Good times! Keep up the great work and thanks again for the fun :)
That banjo is wonderful. So very cool. These are very short, intense, dramatic and funny tales that suggest movies, or at the very least, televisions episodes. Too bad music videos aren't a thing anymore...
Listened to this when I was a kid, I think I even still have the vinyl LP stored away somewhere. Damn, I'm getting old! Great song though, all of Mr. Fries' work was outstanding.
This is gonna be played at my funeral. Come see me. It's going down!
R.I.P. CW. thanks for the music.
R.I.P dad. best times ever.
I remember listening to this song when I was 6 or 7. never gets old
this is the best jeep song i have ever heard. great job, and keep em comin'
funny thing is in my mind all these years that white cj in the pictures used exactly what i seen in my head as i imagined this. Phonex decal and all on the hood with big old school j.c running lamps across the roll over bar and deer kicker.
You are either a Jeep fan despite their wort's or not.

I cant stop listening to this song, its so damn addicting!
and for some reason I keep thinking of Cooter AND Mater...
I really love the vintage CJ's.
Every time I get in my Jeep this song plays in my head.
After his song, convoy AMC asked him to make a song about jeeps. They gave him 2 CJ 7’s and he went into the Rocky’s. He came back with this song. Lol. AMC really didn’t think it went with their corporate image.
Sheesh.

So long McCall ,thanx for all the good songs
I spent a good part of high school riding right by the Nishnabotna river on my dirt bikes. It was fun to cruise down the levee. He said a yard wide foot deep but it’s really quite a bit bigger then that. It was also popular to get a cooler and float down the river with beer and get picked up at a bridge. Cool discovering this.
This is an amazing song and I really like. A lot of his songs. The only problem is the video where the jeep shown is not a cj5 but actually a cj7, you can tell immediately just because the door is more square and not swept in the back like a cj5 is.
Great song and great video. I remember my dad playing this song on a " record player"

One of my favorite songs as a child! That's a cj7 in the video! Fix it!!
This is probably the best KZread video ever!!!!
Someone needs to remake this live action!
"mile wide and an inch deep" Also been applied to the Platte River, I think it's originally a bull riders cry... "Mile wide & an inch deep, too thin to plow, too thick to drink, Powder River, Let'er buck!" (first time I crossed the Platte - I laughed. THIS is a river?!?!"
what a great story teller
Fine job on the video. Had fun watching it.

I love this song, you dont know whether to laugh, keep your foot tapping or bop to the music .It sounds like something that came from the (Dukes of Hazzard) except they never seem to go to jail. @orcanjus Wikipedia: "The Nishnabotna River is a tributary of the Missouri River in southwestern Iowa, northwestern Missouri and southeastern Nebraska in the United States. It flows for most of its length as two parallel streams in Iowa, the East Nishnabotna River and the West Nishnabotna River. The east and west branches are each about 120 miles (190 km) long; from their confluence the Nishnabotna flows approximately another 16 miles (26 km)."
