    Absolutely fascinating. I'll use this just as soon as I can land the Tomcat on the boat without piling it into the arse end ( arse end is a technical naval term for the stern ) and dying in a fireball. My Jester has PTSD already....

    God, I would love two lines of info. Would make target calls for my pilot so much easier if I didn't have to wait to finish my BRA(A) call until the rest of the data finally gets displayed.

    Thank you so much for another interesting video, these are so fun to watch with all the nitty gritty inside info! How would you typically act in a situation where the bandit keep turning hot on you when youre trying to get a good intercept going, would you just accept it as your second factor and go hot on him and say its on?

    35:50 In DCS, 30-35nmi at those altitudes is too late. You'll only get the jump on newbies at that range. If you have a JF-17 or a fast eagle / viper coming at those high altitudes, you can be sure they'll fire from ~30nmi and you'll likely get hit if you don't start defending early. SD-10 fired at 30+k against a high bandit is pretty much lethal within 30nmi (unless the bandit defends early). Amraams don't perform that well, unless they're fired at high speeds... then they're almost as lethal at those altitudes and range. In order to be able to support the phoenix until pitbull in such situations, I'd fire from 40nmi at the latest. For the type A mk60, the DCS sweetspot is ~50nmi, as long as the bandit remains high and doesn't turn cold and/or dive. If the bandit is flanking / cold and flying low, then sure, shots beyond 15nmi aren't likely to hit (unless the other player is a newbie). If the bandit is on the deck and running away, don't bother shooting beyond 8nmi (unless he can't go supersonic).

    slightly random question, hot bandit 200 miles out angels 40 ish im on the ground in an f14b. whats the best scrambkle profile with 2 bags and 2 phoenix onboard? 450 knots ias then hold it in the climb all the way to 40k?

    Try using a 180 degrees intercepting, using a lateral separation of 2r (r is f-14 turn radius) wich depends on your speed. The secret in this case is the turning point!!!!

    What I don't understand in those intercepts is after turning and completing the triangle, in AC stab or attack mode, shouldn't his speed vector point directly towards yourself as you're on an intercept heading aka crash course? It pointed to the left although there was almost no drift.

    FinnTheHuman only an initial assessment... if you have a high closure, you can figure you’re more nose-on, especially when combined with little drift. If you’re doing 400 knots and you’re looking at ~600 knots closure, you can figure you’re looking at a flanking target perhaps. So it’s an indirect method of making an educated guess.

    That was very informative, thank you. If you have any time could you help explain how to keep a target locked. My friends and I seem to lose TWS Auto/PD STT locks within 20 miles or so, and the weapons fail to connect. In addition is there a way to identify when the weapon goes active/bulldog? Thank you for your time, lots of good information.

    capdippe TWS Auto is not fully implemented yet, the antenna remains centered and does not track the centroid of target volume like it should. So for now you need to primarily use TWS Man and be mindful of where your antenna is pointed, especially in elevation. If you’re losing PD STT it’s probably because the targets have entered the zero Doppler filter (co speed) or the MLC filter (beaming). You can try switching the MLC filter off, or the best technique is to switch to PSTT when you know the target will be within one of those filters. The Phoenix goes pitbull at 10NM which will be within 30 sec to a minute of impact. In TWS, the TTI countdown timer should start flashing when the active command is sent although I don’t believe that’s implemented yet either. So just use 10 NM and 60 seconds as you’re rule of thumb.

    @@stevenspicer14 I can't wait for tws auto, currently it switches to tws automatically on firing an aim 54 and then immediately looses lock cause it doesn't work at the moment, really annoying. Also I've noticed jester trying to rely on tws auto a lot despite it not working yet either.
