Well I don't know about that, I'd say about 80% of the time the CHP writes citations after pulling people over. They don't just wait around for minutes or hours waiting to catch a speeder out of the pack, just to pull them over and say hello. However this guy is just getting the first person and anyone he can, where as in most area's of Southern California the CHP will only pull you over for doing 80 or more in a 65mph zone. 80mph is the flow of traffic in SoCal and I see people doing 90-100 all the time, but every area is a little different and every officer has their own limits as well.

@@Chris-nr3yb Def not like that in Nor Cal. They'll pull you over for going 65 in a 55 in a heart beat. 95% of the time they'll issue a ticket. They also will hide around corners, bushes, etc and recklessly jump out at the last minute, sometimes even flipping u turns in the middle of the highway. Whats really crazy is theres many instances of officer misconduct, overtime fraud, sexual harassment, ect and often times the officer receives minimal punishment. If regular citizens committed the same crimes they would be held accountable to the max extent of the law. Double standards for sure, many of these Officers cover for each other and hide their dirty deeds. These are also some of the highest paid officers in the country, many of them make well over $100K a year, way overpaid for how qualified they are and what they actually do.

"Oh 77 in a 65 is no big deal" That's 12 over the limit, seems reasonable to pull someone over for speeding "Cop overreacted to the taser" Regardless of not being a deadly weapon, a taser is still a weapon, plus the officer at first glance didn't know it was a taser "Why do cops hate being recorded by citizens but not here" This is an educational video which there there's a process to film law enforcement doing their jobs. Now citizens could record cops all they want but if you start harassing them and obstructing their investigation, that is a misdemeanor in the state of California

Where no general limit is required, the advisory speed limit is 130 km/h (81 mph), referred to in German as the Richtgeschwindigkeit. The advisory speed is not enforceable; however, being involved in an accident driving at higher speeds can lead to the driver being deemed at least partially responsible due to "increased operating danger" (Erhöhte Betriebsgefahr).

Just a question for any law enforcement: I have a Taser Pulse, which looks like the kind you carry, like a baby gun. It’s got an emblem on it and it also has yellow but I could understand it being confused as a gun, especially when it’s just in my purse and all you see is the handle. I also have pepper spray that came with the gun. I never considered it as something to warn police about but now I think it’s a good idea. My question is what do you want to know about when it comes to non lethal defense weapons like that? Obviously, would be cooperative, but I honestly don’t think about it and I feel like I would easily forget about it and not say anything. So what do you want to know, if I have anything that would be useful as a weapon, even if it’s not typical, like a stick or bat, or just the kind that are more likely to harm you such as projectiles like pepper spray or whatever. Should I just make a list of everything in my car and print it out and keep it with my insurance? Lol

70-75 is the average flow of traffic around here. You even hear him read out the speed of the other vehicles in the pack of traffic...all in the low to mid 70s. So a person goes 2 over the flow of traffic (2 mph is about the margin of error of any car's speedometer) ...and poof its unsafe. This is exactly what gives cops a bad name. If they really want to catch the dangerous drivers maybe they should wait a few more minutes for the guy going 90 because trust me...hes out there. We all see drivers going WAY too fast on CA highways. How frustrating is it to watch someone going 77 get pulled over and then see someone blow past doing 90. Common man...gotta wait for the big fish if you are really trying to keep us safe. And by the way ...try looking for tailgaters. Tailgating causes so many accidents yet CHP seem to never actively look for them like they do speeders.

  • @poker_18rs92

+accord137 If motorists would just stay within 5mph of the posted speed limits, they wouldn't have to worry about it......but everyone's in a hurry out here, it's annoying. I think many times the CHP might let 77 go & wait to pull over the guy doing 80+, but 77 is still 12mph over the limit, so if someone is going that fast, then they will have to understand that they will likely get a ticket. As far as tailgaters go, I'm sure the CHP is always looking for them, but we just saw a small video clip, so maybe they can do another video focusing more on tailgaters & reckless drivers, in/out of lanes etc....

I just wanted to make an observational comment on the seatbelt violation & following ticket . I'm sure in most countries the seatbelt laws are mostly in effect & the same but the tickets are not . For example , in Belgium the operator of the vehicle is responsible for the passengersand/or cargo , so if a passenger does not wear a seatbelt , it is the drivers fault ! So the ticket will be on the drivers account instead of the passenger ...

77 in a 65 REALLY isn't that bad especially during non-congested hours. In most of the state, they don't enforce until it's 15+ over. Two citations for seatbelt? Really? The point of enforcement is correcting behavior. The second seatbelt citation is utterly unnecessary and adds nothing to the goal. When cops throw the whole book at people, that's how they get a bad name. Yes, he had every right to do what he did, but for the greater good of the public, he should be less focused on writing citations and more on what is necessary and what is excessive to achieving the goal of SAFETY. Throughout the nation, police departments are realizing that citations give them a bad name and give the wrong impression that it's for revenue, so if a warning or fewer citations will correct the behavior, then that's what they should do.

+ZenZ What do people do when they are going 77 & see a CHP patrol vehicle? They hit their brakes. Why? Because they know they're speeding & 12MPH is well over the limit. You can be stopped & ticketed if over 5mph over the limit. 15+ is ridiculous. Stay within 5MPH & you'll never have a problem. As far as the seat belts go, only an idiot(s) when drive without them on. 'Click it or ticket'

+PokerRun388 I am not arguing that what the violators did wasn't against the law. I am merely arguing that police officers should exercise their discretion in a manner appropriate to achieving the goal of public safety. Citations are often effective tools to correct behavior; they're also often effective at turning public opinion against police and govt, so they ought to be used appropriately and not excessively.

That is a relatively new protocol for the officer's safety. Many CHP officers have lost their lives due to vehicles colliding while they make a stop on the side of the highway. The new protocol requires they exit the freeway and speak to the driver through the passenger's side window. Personally, I really don't mind at all and I've gotten pulled over myself. I always felt uncomfortable pulling on the side of the freeway even while inside my vehicle. Cars are flying by at 70+.

In New York the LIE is 55mph. Around 7-10pm 77mph is mad slow. People would have much more respect for the police if they actually pulled over dangerous drivers. Passing on the right, tailgating, high-speed passing. From what I’m watching they just look at the readout. Horrible and dishonorable way of enforcing traffic laws.

Might be emergency radio traffic is ongoing, which means no officer is to use the radio unless they are actively involved in whatever emergency is going on. When that happens the radio will make a beep or tone every few seconds to indicate emergency radio traffic. This is to keep the radio clear for the officers that actually need the radio to call for resources and keep other units posted on the situation

I agree. It sucks. But they are in a public place with no expectation of privacy. At the camera man isn’t walking up and pointing the camera in their face. He’s just hanging back. If he was showing their faces then I think they would need to sign a release in order for them to use the footage for a video like this. But since the folks remain anonymous they don’t need any permission. Although, on one of these videos, they forget to blur someone’s ID that is on the cops clipboard. Rough.

Just because other people drive like assholes, doesn't mean I will do the same. In countries such as Brazil and Colombia and Thailand, people drive like assholes. There are non-censored sites out there (Bestgore is a good one) that post the end result of doing just that--drivign like an asshole. People's craniums half-open with brain matter splattered over the road, dismembered bodies, some cut in half and others beheaded. I'm grateful for having a law enforcement unit that at least keeps a reasonable amount presence and safety in our roads. Even with it, DUIs and reckless drivers cause some nasty accidents down here in Southern California. A family lost their children due to an asshole that was tailgating, zig-zagging and then cutting off a semi that was unable to stop. Believe me, I prefer no-nonsense CHP assholes that take our money over the other kind of assholes that regularly take our lives.
