My husband’s account got hacked too. We called cvs they gave back the $36 that someone used from North Carolina. We are from NV. Cvs told us not to use phone# anymore (they blocked it so nobody can use it again) and use the extracare number instead

One of my accounts was hacked recently as well. They’re sending me a cvs card and will remove the phone number once it comes and I call them back. Then I will just keep my ecb in paper form for the time being just in case. Sorry it happened to you too.

Close down your existing account that got hacked and open a new one. Ask customer service to transfer any extra bucks to the new account in small denominations. That is the only 100% way to make sure it won't continue to be used.

I have seen where someone got into an account, added the card to their wallet, and no matter what they were still able to use it!

Please create a follow-up video. I'm also curious about how to safeguard my CVS account and how they do it. I don't believe changing your email, password, or phone number will accomplish anything. CVS will issue you a security code on your to login via email after entering your password successfully for two-factor authentication. To use ECB you need to clip the app/send to card. Therefore, 100% someone obtained your CVS card numbers and entered them into the app in order to clip the ECB. My guess, they run some program to generate random digit of extracare cards and try to login from the app. Another method I could think of is if you said your phone number out loud, paying on the cashier. If they got your number they could go to cashier and ask to show the screen or something but does not explain all the way in Cali.

They changed it recently. you can no longer login from the app using a card number. You have to sign in using your credentials. Well, that's what I've noticed.

My CVS & Rite Aid accts both got hacked same day...drained over $140 in rewards combined - they simply entered my phone number in each case & used the rewards to pay for their purchases. I was LIVID!!!

As far as the hacking goes it seems to be an organized issue. Every account I hear about that got hacked had purchases made in CA. I took my phone number out of my accounts. Honestly I always used my card anyway so it was no big deal. Like others have said I feel you should just close that account and Ms transfer your ECBs to a new one. You have your other ones going while you can build up a history with a new one.

Do you have to be in person for the spend deals. Not working for pick up. It wants me spend exactly the amount net after coupons.

@@amandagorske2141 No I had like $20 in ECB stolen at one specific store in CA about a year ago. Called and the CVS CS agent helped me change my phone number on the account and I reset my login info. Then it stopped for a full year and nothing was stolen so I assumed the issue was fixed and they no longer had access. Then just this past few weeks it’s started up again and I called it’s the same store as before. So essentially they took a break from my account and are now trying to use it again.
