Cutting 3 Inches Off A Savage/Fox Model B 12 Gauge Stock
Watch me cut down the stock of a Savage/Fox Model B 12 gauge shotgun. I take off 3 inches as to stay ATF compliant.

When you add the finish it will go to the same color it will. That original recoil pad won’t fit now and it’s not grindable. WTH

Watch the entire series my man. I completely redid the stock. All new finish and new butt pad.

Does the OAL considers the new recoil pad? Haha Have a spacer that puts you 1/8" over the 26".

Good question, yes the recoil pad is part of the shotgun therefore it is calculated into the overall length. Don't worry I made sure to leave an extra 1/8" on the barrel lol. Thanks for watching.

Way fewer of these made than mausers, aren't you one of the guys who says it's sacrilege to sporterize a mauser ?

Nope. Guns are tools. They are supposed to be used. If it's old and rusty and serves no purpose, I don't see anything wrong with turning it into something that you will actually use. This thing was destined for a gun buy back. I turned it into a fun project, a learning tool, and a firearm I can actually use.

Dude the stock was beat. If it was worth anything I wouldn't have done what I did. It was worth it. I took an old rusty neglected shotgun and turned it into not only a learning experience but something fun and usable. I also created a video on how to reassemble a savage fox model b that did not exist and it helped a few people. So all and all I call it a victory. Thanks for watching my friend.

Why you cut it off that long?

Trying to keep it legal. It needs to be a total length of 26 inches to be legal with a barrel length of 18 so I made it as short as I could without having any issues with the ATF.

Can you cut all the way to the handle part?

The ATF says the barrel must be 18 inches and the overall length must be at least 26 inches. So essentially yes. But my barrel being cut to 18 inch meant that if I cut my stock at the grip I would be too short with the overall length. It comes down to, do you want a shorter stock with a longer barrel or a longer stock with a shorter barrel?

So I have a gf3p from g force and it's a 20inch barrel and has the factory stock...I just want to cut the stock all the way to the handle part so I don't have to shoulder it...

@@Cheap_Shoots measure 26 inches from the muzzle end of the barrel toward the buttstock. You can cut the stock at the 26 inch mark. It would be wise to go slightly larger. I would go 27 inch just to be safe. Sounds like it's gonna be a pretty cool blaster.
