    @@tobe-you-tube6612I have a cousin who dropped out of the modelling game to pursue a career in nursing. Modelling is both very easy and exceptionally difficult. You are correct that there is definitely a minimum bar for attractiveness, but there is definitely an amount of put yourself out there and personal life sacrifice that a lot aren't willing to do. It has been changing recently with the plus size models movement but eating disorders and heavy makeup usage are probably about 70% of what you are seeing on the stage. The difference between a supermodel and a nobody who's trying to make it is that 5% luck and 25% being beautiful. My cousin was a fairly big name, been magazines you've heard of and stuff. But you have to start as a child and be able to cover travel costs and be at least networked well enough to get in the door. It's more of a barrier to entry thing than a "you have to be a miss universe contestant" thing.

    I've noticed men prefer cute face and women prefer the hot face. I think androgyny is mostly preferred amongst females but in reality men like women who look approachable. Of course take into consideration this is all subjective and relative. There are too many variables to consider and there will be outliers and differences in opinion.

  • @yumikuokuku4588

    Ultimately depends on the preference of the man. There would be no reason why the hot face is in trend if it wasn’t just as widely coveted by both males and females.

  • @Ladeliciadelinda

    @Ladeliciadelinda

    8 ай бұрын

    @@yumikuokuku4588 True, I was just making a generalization. I've been asking men and doing surveys on this for years and as with anything, there will be some people who prefer a different look. If you look at actresses and models from the golden Hollywood era to the models of the 90s, you see that there was a switch from ultra feminine, big eyes, delicate features, to more androgynous traits (fierce but still feminine such as Fox/Cat Eyes, angular facial structures that still maintain some femininity. I think because many of these androgynous traits, still have feminine features, so they still attract males. But in general whenever I ask men, they often tell me they prefer cute because as attractive and striking "hot" faces look, they still feel intimidation. So I cant tell if this a true preference, or if their answers are largely shaped more by if they think they can even talk to the woman. The hot look could be equally preferred but just that men, also take into consideration if they think they can even snag a "hot" woman.

    I’m a woman & I prefer cute faces in both men & women 🤷🏻‍♀️ Perhaps it mostly has to do with modeling agencies & what they’re looking for - mostly, more defined androgynous faces. & that’s why they seem the most popular; because models are more likely to be influencers & they also already have an “acceptable” body as well as having a sense of fashion. All of this makes them more likely to have a following & therefore we believe their faces are the most coveted. Just a thought.

    The "hot" face has, ironically, more typically masculine features. As Dr House put it "The perfect woman is a man!" Feminine facial characteristics are generally softer and more round. Our environment has huge impact on what we perceive as beautiful. In my early 20s we lived in Berlin, Germany. I was around 130 pounds at 5.6 back then after my first baby and strangers would regularly tell me that I was fat. It happened constantly and my husband started to perceive me as chubby and so did I. In Guatemala we Never thought that way. After my second baby I gained a bit of weight again and now I am at 138 ( back to pre pregnancy as of February 2022 123 pounds, but still )pounds and my husband doesn’t perceive me as big. We are now in the USA and I never get insulted for my size. In the US I fit a size small, whereas in Germany a size medium. If you get told over and over someone is pretty or ugly, it’ll have an impact on your perception.

    @@cheeesysandwich that was in Germany and it was very common there to be seen as fat if you weren’t very slim. It was really bad for my self esteem and I essentially wasted the bigger part of my 20s because I didn’t want to do anything and get to,d just how fat I am. I heard it’s better now there a bit. But even at school, I was the fat girl at 125 pounds. Anything above a size 2 US was seen as fat. I have a bigger butt , wider hips and small waist, not a body type that was popular at the time in Berlin. I am happy my daughters don’t grow up there. I am half Guatemalan, my daughters are 3/4th Guatemalan , were just not build like German women or their perceived ideal. They’re also very blunt and as long as they are honest will say pretty hurtful things right to your face. Many great things in Germany but that wasn’t one of them. I still have it burned into my memory how guys would tell me that I should weigh 105 pounds ideally. I look sick at that weight. I have more facial fat and my face looked always chubbier than my body, wich makes people perceive one as bigger too. Now that I crossed 30 though it’s a real plus, as facial fat loss is a huge factor in making one look older. I guess everything has good and bad. And I am sure you look absolutely fine and I am happy you don’t get insulted like that. From everything I heard Germany is better in that regard now.

Here in Canada we tend to share similar ideals to the USA and I have realized that most men here, including my partner and classmates, prefer women who are curvy over skinny. Healthy looking is best. However, my Chinese relatives always say that I am fat (I am 116 pounds) and tell me to lose weight. But, I understand that Asian culture tends to prefer women who are very skinny. I was watching singles inferno the other day and I realized that all of the contestants are stick thin. They are beautiful but it just doesn’t look healthy to me. Whoa, you’re right. I notice that the first cute face and the first hot face he shows are entirely different than when he’s explaining those features. The real cute face has freckles and very rounded brows, and the first hot face has eye makeup and really plump lips and thicker darker eyebrows. But when he explains, he uses a neutral face and only does some features, and so it doesn’t actually change back into the face he’s explaining.

But individually we all have our own preferences and definitions of what we perceive beautiful. Cute or hot. So I never take any of these things too serious specially from the media and I can only hope the others aren’t too sensitive into believing that this is a standard default perspective of every single human being’s mind. For example: my first love was burned from head to toe. He was the most beautiful (in every sense) person to me. Very much attracted to him. Like. I. Said. It varies from person to person. No, men *AND* women are doing it about women, quelle surprise. Don't play stupid and act like beauty standards affect men to the same degree as women. Who does it disproportionately impact negatively (and sometimes dangerously)? You already know the answer. Having an 'it is what it is' attitude towards beauty standards and unsolicited opinions being thrust onto women to ultimately oppress them (because that's what it does), is neither helpful nor needed. The original short did a good job at explaining from a scientific basis what makes some faces considered 'hot' and others 'cute'. But people here, thought it was ok to start comparing the two, and which one is superior. You're comparing oranges to apples; one type of beauty is not better than the other, but anything to feed into women's insecurities and make them question their own self worth by centering what men find attractive as if men's opinions of women are of the utmost importance... of course. 🙄 I stg, I hate when dismiss valid gender concerns by comparing men's and women's issues as if it has ever been an even playing field, and the effects are equal when they're not. Cute face is more feminine. Beautiful women have a harder time finding lifetime partners because guys want a cute girl but not so cute that every other guy wants her too. It’s a weird dichotomy society tells you the hotter you are, the better but it doesn’t turn out that way in real life.

    I know one thing hairstlye changes my face l👀k - when I wear my hair "au" natural curl I look cute and my personality is more carefree, but when I wear a straight look I'm more reserved and inquisitive. So, I've noticed when I wear my hair straight that I'm seen as not approachable or as friendly. Who knew hair could make such a difference!?😉 Just my perception anyways. 🤷‍♀️The power that one's crown holds is a mystery all it's own. 👑

    Omg yes I've always noticed that but it also changes how service people treat me and what kind of guys each hairstyle attracts. It's fascinating to experience the difference and it's a reminder of how visual we are and perception is a large part of what affects our lives.

    It’s Biblical: Does not the very nature of things teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a disgrace to him, but that if a woman has long hair, it is her glory? The power of hairstyle is undeniable.

    There have always been "trend-setters" separate from general society. Royalty had long been the social trend-setters, for instance...a lot of even current Western fashion was set by some duke or princess back in the 1800s or early 1900s. Movie stars have been trendsetters. Other famous people like John and Jackie Kennedy were fashion trendsetters. John Kennedy is credited for convincing American men to abandon the nearly universal wearing of fedoras. Society in general has followed the trend-setters.
