Rustoleum is a really good paint. Fabrics have sizing from manufacturing. If you wash the shoes first you will get better penetration. It's the same thing as washing shirts before doing an iron on transfer.

It's like washing fabric before making a garment. Washing first removes the fabric finish and allows for shrinking before sewing. I really like how the shoes looked after the whole process!!
TIP: "Glad Press 'n Seal" will do the trick on keeping the paint out of the inside of the shoes. I got a two pack at Sam's Club. It is a type of plastic wrap. I got it from a KZreadr doing hydro dipping and needed to protect some areas and this is what he used (I wish I knew his name so I could give him full credit).
Glad to see that this craft is back in style. Love your color choices. Years ago we use to insert plastic bags into the shoes and secure them with tape before we dipped them.
I love those shoes, the color ripples are so pretty! Thanks for sharing!
I love watching you do this! I am going to try a pair soon for me and my granddaughter!!! Thanks for your inspiration! 👟
Wow! Great job those look fabulous!
Awesome job! Will be doing this with my 13 year old, she's going to love this! Thanks for the video!!

Love these so much... First pair is still my favorite... Only because it has more purple in them...
I didn’t know I needed these but I need hydro dipped shoes.
Totally cool. They look great. 💙💙💙
So cool!! Those are the best examples I've seen on youtube :)
Thanks for sharing. Cool idea. I'm going to have to try it out.
So cool, can't wait to try this!
I love that it is awesome never knew that you could that with sneakers.WOW! Great job
❤️these are awesome🥰💕 I hope to try this next month👍😎❤️
That is soooo cool. Loved the music. Happy New Year.
So cool! Great job!

These turned out so pretty.
Great job guys
So completely cool!
I love the way they look! xxx 💖💖💖
Nice work.. So you should use some primer first before deep in ..then try to use a less wider bucket so the paint don’t float away and keep it in place.. also less water just enough for the shoe 👟 to deep in..I wish I could put a picture here but rustolium have a seal spray that works pretty good for after it drys..
I was very curious about your video but liked it in the end great job
Looks amazing
These are awesome!
Awesome Possum! These are sooooo awesome! Makes me want to go buy all the stuff and try it...alas...it's winter in Maine and freezing rain out there today... but going to try it this summer for sure! Laura m 🦋
I love this video!
The shoes are awesome!
Love these
Less paint if you do both shoes at same time as your container is large enough. Fun doing this years ago. Great job!
Love your shoes! Was thinking you could put a balloon inside them to stop the paint, or some plastic mannequin feet from Amazon. Is there a reason why you don't you dip both shoes at the same time, side by side, so they match more? Thanks for the video, looks so fun!

I think it would be a little difficult to do both at once because you need at least one free hand remove paint from the shoe area so you can bring it back up in a clear space
Shove grocery bags inside the shoe before dipping🙂. They look totally awesome 💕
What a nice Auntie you are!. Hope you had a great Christmas!
Very cool!
Just as a suggestion use press n seal to seal off the inside of your shoes
How COOL!!
these are awesome
I will have to give that a try
I love watching your work! ♥️ Have you ever tried to hydro dip a fabric lampshade? I'm wondering how that would work?
Those are sweet!!!!
So pretty and your video is so much better than most of the guys because you pay attention to the details. Thank you!
Dye the laces!! Cute cute. Great project!! Subscribed 😂👍😎🐕🤜🤛👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I wonder if washing the shoes first to remove any sizing would help the paint to adhere better? Just a thought.
Cute!! 💙
Ultra cool!!!!!
Love Love Love how they turned out. Quick question why can’t or you don’t use the leftover paint from first dip again? Thank you for the informative video. Going to give it a try with a friend.
One I am DEF fixin'a try 😁
Could you put a long balloon in the shoe and the inflate the ball on to fill the shoe? Protecting socks from possible paint rub
OMG so very cool
These are really cute. Does the spray paint make the fabric stiffer than the original canvas?

Nope :)
Cool shoes!
Love your shoes!! Planning on trying it on some old dirty crocs. Wonder how they’ll do. Maybe you’d like to try?? Looks like you spray a LOT of paint. How do you know when it’s enough?
To cool!!!
Cooool shoes.
Any reason why we don't use a smaller container of water so that it doesn't waste so much paint?
Hi! You know batik fabrics, ‘they’ use wax! 🤗🤪 Very cool idea! Keep em coming!
Love the shoes! What are you going to do with the top? I would love to see the a pair with glittered tops!
Merry Christmas
Could you paint something on top of the dip paint and then scotch guard it?
Do you let the paint dry at all before you dip?
These look great! I think stuffing the shoes with paper would keep most of the paint out. Ooh! Then open the paper up and see what that looks like 🤔
How did you dispose of your water and paint mixture?

I was wondering the same thing. I hope that paint didn't get poured into the sewer system.
Cool deal.👍✌
Can you scotchguard the inside of the shoes before dipping?
@MixedMediaGirl

That's an idea!
Personally, I'm not a fan of the hydro dipped method of anything, but these are very cool for anyone who likes this method.
Do the shoes have to be white?
Does this work with leather shoes
Thanks.
Plastic coat paint works the best on leather shoes. Make sure to spray with a white base coat first
Wow Marcus you grew an extra arm (or 2) just to spray paint with! Can you teach us how to do that in your next video?😉😉😉🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
About how much spay paint did you go through to do a pair? Super cool look!💖💕

Hardly any :)
Thank you for the Christmas card!
I was told the paint should be oil-based. Your paint reacts a little different from what I've seen. Are you using oil-based paints, or no? I was wondering if it makes a difference! I've been wanting to hydrodip for months! Planning on trying it soon!
@HisAngel426

She's using valspar in this video which is a water based paint!
Very nice craft. Did the paint crack when you walked?
@MixedMediaGirl

No
You know Scotchguard will wash off... you need to reapply it after washing an item. I've used Scotchguard on all kinds of items from patio furniture (outdoor Scotchguard), to my Airbnb furniture, throw pillows and rugs that I have to spot clean and reapply -- as it will come off after cleaning. Also used it on sewing projects like handbags and totes that I've sewn, etc. But you must reapply! So by tossing these in the washer and being shocked that it came off, I mean, did you read the label??
Will spray paint ruin the washing machine? What about toxicity on the skin. Any carcinogens in the spray paint?
@monicafredericks4377

I was wondering about that as well. Cool idea though.
Tfs
Try to semi inflict a balloon,for the inside of the shoe, or those bubble wraps for packaging and tape to the inside. IDK sounds good in my head lol
where do you pour that toxic water once you're done?
@murlyssnippets1964

Wondering myself. I would use a ventilators' mask as well.

I would go with letting the water evaporate and then pull out the paint...only thing I can think of.
Did the acetone work?

Mostly :) it definitely helped!

What product did you cover the bottom
@MixedMediaGirl

Tape
How long did the paint last
@MixedMediaGirl
4 жыл бұрын
It's still on there just fine :)
Love these. Put plastic bags in the shoes when dipping maybe?
I tried it and the spray paint stuck to the tape, but not the sneaker.
Can this be done with canvas sneakers?
@MixedMediaGirl
4 жыл бұрын
These are canvas
They turned out awesome, so cool. Maybe put some liquid latex on the inside to keep the paint from getting in there and getting on your socks. 💚💚💚
Have you tried vaseline to cover the rubber bits?
I want to do this so bad
How many cans per shoes?
@MixedMediaGirl
Жыл бұрын
like....100th of a can 👍
Cool! Maybe stuff a pair of old socks with paper and stick inside.
Cool videos...New Sub 01/17/20 👍🏼🤩😁
Why not try Montana Spray paint or Ironlak a premium paint may be nicer
insert a plastic bag, fill with paper, tape the top. Good luck. looking great. good Fun Job.
Why are you didn’t dip both shoes at the same time try that the next time
It’s always the jimi Hendrix look circa 1969....too much paint one spot? Try less and five or six areas in the bucket...kind of looks better with the shoe strings in it
Try fabric paint or markers instead of spray paint
maybe if you blow up a balloon and put in there to block the paint from getting inside.
Fabric paint may work better.
