What was wrong with the old way? A simple bearing, clutch fork and the clutch piston which sat OUTSIDE the gearbox!?

I did a clutch on 66 plate astra and nailed off the gearbox mount just like that leaving one buts it's cast and snapped clean off 😮

These clutch problems on passats are a nightmare can't keep air out of the system bleeding up OK approx 500 miles later it needs bleeding again it had 2 slave CSCs , 3 master cylinders and pipes between the 2 cylinders wot next

Nice work. I've done plenty of clutches and DMF's on various makes and models but tbh i've never seen that tool. Hell i don't even own a clutch alignment tool, I just do it by eye by looking how much friction material I can see all the way around. Once the box is on and bolted up, it will self center anyway once you press the clutch. What is this tool for though?

The tool is really to enable the existing clutch to be removed and reset to enable refitting if you are not replacing

How come you drain the gear oil,I work in a VAG main dealer and I've never once drained the box,just interested in the thought process

Yeah same as that gear oil is expensive as dude. I changed it in my Skoda same box £100

Everyone does it differently, draining it takes seconds

@@Dyl469 when you're multi make it's habit of draining the box buddy, if did nothing but vag or a specific brand id know exactly what's what.. I'm kinda stuck in my ways

This so called “improved design” for clutches, timing belts etc is far far more expensive than they used to be with zero improvement from what I can see
