I've loved carbon knives since I was little and have an interest in having an ulu. Price looks nice. Got one question. You mentioned using it in the field. How are scabbards fashioned for them? Also, I've done a lot of salvaged blades from other tempered steel items myself. A tip for your husband...chop out blade blanks with a 4" angle grinder with thin cutoff wheels. Keep a wet cotton cloth handy to keep it soaked the whole time. If you see the water vaporize near the cutting area, stop and resoak. Keeps the tempering fixed. Same with final grinding.

For a hand crafted blade instrument, the price is not actually very high. I apprenticed to a knife maker thirty five years ago, back when a dollar was worth a heck of a lot more than it is now, and you couldn't get a blade from us for less than six times that price. They were rather different sorts of blades, but still.
