Custom truck chassis build for the 1942 Chevy Rat Rod!

Фильм және анимация

This is the custom frame that we built for the 1942 rat rod. The frame itself is made out of 2 by 4 by 3/16th rectanglular tubing with 3/16ths plating on the frame joints for strength. As for its purpose, the frame also doubles as an on board air tank for our on board air system that works our air suspension. We managed to add on-board air by slightly modifing an old A.C. compressor into an air pump. We also drilled passageways inbetween each frame section to allow for the most air volume we could get. The final number that we found for the air capacity is 12.5 gallons. The frame was also tested to be air tight to prevent any air leakage. Later on, we also have added wings on either side of the frame for the cab to mount to, and we also are going to add more permenant crossmembers to conjoin the two frame sides together.
This channel is inspired by some of my favorite youtubers: Hardcore Fab, Vice Grip Garage, Fab Rats, Matts Offroad Recovery, Piece and Grease, Rat Rod Bob Builds, Uncle Tony's Garage, Bad Chad, Make It Kustom, and WelderUp. The channls have given me a ton of cool knowlage about all sorts of fabrication info on things such as: Welding, engine building, custom chassi fabrication, custom air suspension design, custom interior design, on board air systems, chopping tops and other custom body work, custom seat designing, rat rod buidling, and some video editing and production.

That's some good welding man. I'm a welder myself. I used to repair Exxon gasoline tankers for a living. And welding for leaks is a whole different animal. It's not easy. Job well done. I hope the frame tank works.

Thanks! It is very different from regular welding for sure, being as it's a pressurized vessel. You think it's good and then you put a couple psi in it and you'll find leaks. Definitely takes some patience and work!
