Custom Truck Camper Topper Extension Tour

When I got tired of sleeping diagonally in a short bed, I decided I needed to either get a bigger truck or build some kind of solution.
Thankfully I came across Brians channel @OffGridBackcountryAdventures and he thought of an awesome solution to extend the topper, so I just copied the idea and implemented it differently.
I wanted the extension to serve as a all in one camping station of sorts that could store most my camping gear and serve as a camp kitchen.
It also needed to facilitate setting up and breaking down camp as quickly as possible.
This custom camper build definitely serves all those purposes and helps make it easier to get out to nature more often.

Thanks for checking out the build Brian! Yea camping like this keeps things much simpler and doesn’t weigh u down literally and figuratively. Love being able to pack up and dip out with a quickness, or should I say “jam out” lol. Thanks again for the inspiration. Seriously don’t think I woulda went this direction if it weren’t for your vids and I’m so glad I did.
I really like this "no build" build. This is my kind of camper conversion. A lot of tips that will work with my minivan.
That’s awesome. Simple and functional. I like that it pulls out then when you’re on the go it slides back in. Very good idea. Trying to find good ideas for building my own truck camper. Thanks for sharing!

Great use of space, conserve $ and secure from the elements. I like how the back end slides in and supported by the tailgate. I bet it ads a second layer to detour nosy people trying to get in. 👍

This is awesome man, definitely will refer back to this video when I'm ready to build my own extension for my camper. Thanks for the gardening video too! Probably tackling that project next when the Vegas heat settles down.

I am drawing up plans to build an alaskan camper type design using my canopy.The canopy will sit in its normal position when traveling,but will raise up around 30 inches for camping.It will be fully insulated with about 6'6"head room.And all the comforts of home.

Butyl tape is the waterproof material used to sandwich between topper/ rv/ mobile home windows & doors.

Awesome setup! I'm doing something like your setup, but I'm using heavy-duty drawer slides, and one back door and gas struts opening upward.
Great build man! I built something similar for my Colorado but living in the north east had to worry about water coming in!

Love the look of the camper on your truck, I want to buy one with out the windows like that, but eventually I would like to have side windows, do you know if it’s possible to be able to add windows to the camper ?

It has 3 coats of polyurethane, which i dunno if thats enough but it had withstood light rain. Im hesitant to see if itll handle a downpour. In that case id put up a tarp.
