    Glad we have this finally, mine has synched across perfectly but some bugs in it - seeing a warm up repeated immediately but the repeat is named 'work', and then it goes into the main set... so a double warm up it is! great video Matt, amazing images and videography as normal!

    Glad to see this finally rolled out. Looks like there is lots of room for Apple to make some improvements. Alerts need some refinement and some type of visual like you get with Garmin (tachometer with yellow, green, red).

    I switched from AW to Garmin about 2 years ago (for various reasons) and I am tempted to go back after watching videos like this. I wish AW would get stress/HRV though. Side note, is there a TrainerRoad for running (if you don't have a coach)? And finally, love that shirt, but don't see it on your site. Is that a discontinued one?

    Longtime, dedicated Garmin FR & Fenix user that just switched to AW Ultra, because I needed other smartwatch app integrations. AW has been great so far, but it’s been missing the Garmin features like structured intervals and Pace Pro. I think this workout API could make the switch complete. Some mornings, I do miss the Garmin fitness first mentality. But the overall smartwatch experience is no comparison in favor of Apple.

    Seems like everything works well with most of the Garmin devices but if you'd want a smarter smart watch, then the Apple Watch is a good option. You can put non cycling workouts into TrainerRoad but I think it's really targeting cyclists. Training Peaks is different. It's more workout scheduling and analysis. It could be used for running, with or without a coach. I'd have a look at the free account. 👌

    I almost always wear two watches. Right now it's just one Garmin watch. I'll be back to wearing multiple watches soon. I think there's a few Garmin watches that I haven't been able to test this past year that I hope to snag here soon. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍

    Stryd does a good job today of executing interval runs within power ranges, using the Apple workout profile. But you have to have a Stryd running pod and the ranges focus on power, not pace, of course.

  • @mlegrand

    @mlegrand

    6 ай бұрын

    That Stryd pod is a good product and his Training Peaks custom workout builder might be a good alternative depending on what you're looking to do. You could base workouts on pace, power or heart rate.

    I have now found out the following. When I import a workout from TrainingPeaks to the Apple Watch and then start this TP workout (with the TP app icon), I don't get any audio announcements, only the intervals are shown by vibration and on the display. However, if you call up the TrainingPeaks workout and then scroll all the way down, you get the "Add to App Training" function. If you do this (you can then set indoor or outdoor) and then start the training from the training app in the "Running" section, you will also get all the audio announcements about the interval times and whether you are above or below the current pace.

    When structured workouts originating in TP, going into an apple watch and back to TP, does not show any details beyond HR and distance, there are no maps, individual miles are not parsed out like they are on Garmin, it is just one entry, when the original workout was about 24 intervals. How do you get it to parse out each interval when coming back into TP?

  • @mlegrand

    @mlegrand

    Sounds like a bug if you're only seeing one of the 24 intervals. 😬 What did Training Peaks have to say?

  • @DanielEvansMusic

    Pace can be announced but when you need to follow a pace you need a pace bar/pace progress bar like with heart rate zones, but not possible. Its a deal breaker for me. Or am I missing hw to do it somewhere?

  • @mlegrand

    You might be right. I haven't tried this but I would try a "Pacer Workout". Go to Outdoor Run, click on the three dots, scroll till you see workouts and try to find one that is called 'Pacer'. Adjust the metrics accordingly (the default is be 5k at 30 minutes) and see if it does what you're hoping to do.
