... the categories don't overlap on limits. So for example if you want more shipwrecks you have to change the selections within that tab to be under the limit. Also the game doesn't take away trees or anything outside of the category you're in when hitting a limit. The only real correlation I could see was with rocks and stone deposits. Ps you can just have 40 young palms I don't think it even limits anything.

Too bad the game doesn't allow you to place items anywhere you want on the island. I'm looking for a way to import custom islands from PC to consoles. I'm glad console players can finally enjoy this great game 👍

Wow thank you for doing this video I was struggling to figure out how to do it and this video really helped. It hard to find a good island to put a base on so this is really handy. Plus the island you made looks really good too

Ok, finally a truly helpful SD video! I've only been playing a week but found changing islands to be a little hard to follow - mainly because most videos are made on PC rather than console! So yeah, thanks - I'm gonna go ahead and change out some of my bare islands and give myself a scrap bonus!

Survived 100 days then my son tells me about building my own island..after 100 days, house built, everything working out great, mega planters going, plane parts found.. an then this 🤣 So today I'm starting over.. I do have to admit, the ship wrecks on my island is going to make this so much easier. But.. I like the slow pace, so I'll still be hitting those islands around me bc its actually fun to get caught in storms. The all round challenge for this old game is fun! Pc players get to poke holes in the island. Consol players get to get blocked of how many trees they can put on island. Even though on pre made islands the trees scraps and bushes well exceed the limits of what we are allowed to make.

Takes a little bit to make all the custom Islands loaded with all the goodies but man it's way worth it and you just totally improve the game custom Islands get the most out of the game game😊😊

It is possible to change the starting map tile by starting a game and creating a save location on a different island which you do not plan to change.

Go to a different island and save your game, then exit to the main menu, and go back to the cartographer.

I wish you could make it flat and big but the flatter you get the smaller it gets. But you also don't wanna build your house on the top of the hill if you make it big. The birds and bats will be in ur house and move stuff

You're welcome!

The only actual island you can't change is the one you're currently sitting on (which makes sense) If you want to change it, leave, save, change the island, return, and come back. If you don't like the position of the bosses/endgame, you're just going to have to randomize the world, which destroys everything in it. Do that for a new game.

yh... so i accidentally changed the island i live on. i thought the red one without a skull shows your location/ the last saved location. also when i save on a new island the red box showing my location doesn't move.

Create island, loot it, delete it from world, create another island, populate with lots of trees clay, loot it, delete it. I keep spawning mine in the middle of the map. By now my main island has like 100 trunks on it. And if you revisit a map that has red containers , it over spawns them. Keep hitting the walls and it will spam extra walls for you to use.

Can you place a custom island on the 'existing map'? I also wanted to ask how big is the map? If i travel in one direction do are there no more islands eventually? Or is the map only as big as what you see in the cartographer because eventually you would just run out of resources.

Yes, you can that's the whole point. The map is as big as you see it there, but you can always just make a new island and replace it with one if you need extra resources

How did you save it? I create my island and the only option is back, apply, change view. Apply is just to add trees and im worried if i click back i will lose i get no option to generate the new island EXACTLY WHAT BUTTON ON PS4 do you push to save once island is created please????

Should I do this on a new save slot or can I do it on my current one? And how would I find the islands I don’t want to change?(it’s an island directly across from the starting island)

You can craft a custom island import it to your game and remove it again when your done.

What seed?

Does this work for multiplayer saves? I remember watching this video and trying to figure it out on my save that me and my friends play on but couldn't figure it out.

My experience with multiplayer has been whatever active map the host had was the actual map. I couldn’t go into the cartographer after the game had started to see where we were on that map for some odd reason. But with a screen shot I was able to figure where I was. Without testing I assume that if you customized your map before starting a multiplayer game may work. Like I said I have not tested it.

It doest let me build a base I can place the foundation but no floors

Can you do this on the regular single player mode on Xbox? Do I just go to main menu

In the cartographer youll see an island tile red thats just an island and not a skull red tile (boss tile) that on console is the island you saved and exited on. You can not change it because your on it.

The number of times this game crashes on ps4 when I try n save drives me nuts, it’s insane how much time I’ve wasted going days without saving n then I go to save n it crashes when I try to save….. ugh

Dont change the island with your base on it. Choose an island that youve only used for resources.

Just goto cartographer.. choose an created island and drop it into the tile where you would like to replace the island.. but be warned.. anything built on the island you replace with a custom island will be lost so choose wisely.

Oh yea I've got bout three I did , that I visit I'll do more , around me , soon & of course restart , lm not that far , matter of fact I just started ,

Tarps were removed from the game.. but still remain in the game.. its bugged on console.. infact many bugs in game sonce the recent console patch kzread.info/dash/bejne/oqiTutxqhdetZbw.html

Was in the process of making a custom island as I watched this video because I didn't even know you could do that until I saw this vids title. had an insanely gorgeous island made and right after I finished naming it, right before I hit the save button the freggin game kicked me to the home screen and said it needed an update... fkn talk about shit timing :l

move your created island into the center island and save your map and exit then start a new game with the existing map.. and you should spawn on your created map

Hi granddaddy gamer . You said to replace your island with the center island then quit , start a new game. Now my question is this when you start a new game. The game says are you sure you want to replace your saved game. I already have a saved game offline before I started with the Cartography stuff. So is that going to replace my single player offline game save? kinda a risk I wouldn't take I got 79 days on my save. This is for Nintendo Switch. Also that map name already exists error has me puzzled Ty for your answer

On Xbox it gives me a limit as to what I can put on the island. Doesn’t give me much to work with. If I want trees I can’t have cliffs lol.

It's tedious. I found on a medium island you can get all but like one of the shipwrecks, you can put approx 12 palm trees, all 40 young palms, all 3 yucca, 3 potato, 1 pipi, 2 aloe, 1 ajuga, all animals, all the individual rocks, sticks and scrap, and tarps, than you can do like 7 clay, maybe a rock deposit. Than you can possibly get some cosmetic stuff in just always lock it!

Yeah man, same for PS4. It's pretty frustrating. Ruins the whole custom feature being as limited as it is. At least let us create the shape. Not the preselected shapes that just go in rotation as it is, but like create a giant inlet cove, or maybe a giant single mountain spurring out of the ocean like a volcano. Plus we need a lot more wildlife to the game. I bought this game and after about a week and half, I just ran out of stuff to do to keep me interested. Tried it in Hard mode w permanent death but just not enough stations, craftables or things to hunt in the downtime. Just building, which is too limited as well. For $20 it's fun, but short lived in my opinion. Went back to The Forest, and 7 Days to Die on my PS4.

Look up custom island item glitch. My island has all shipwrecks 30 tarps 60 trees 80 young palms 21 yucca 20 boar 20 potatoes 10 pipi 250 rocks and 150 sticks and 12 clay lol... U get the picture lol. Basically all u want up to a certain point. The game can only handle so much

I kinda wish I could save islands I find in the world instead I just find it a pain to create them I’d rather spend 10 minutes restarting my game a few times saving all the islands instead of spending an hour just to make them look right it’s ridiculous how limited it is

@@MrFroudinho keep track of where you went. Place a shelter on each island youve been to, makes it a bit easier to remember. Take a picture of the map on cartographer and X out each island youve been to. Use the compass

I wouldn't complain about the limitations too much. I play on pc and every time I start a new game if there are any custom maps found, it will replace my aircraft carrier island with a custom island so there is no escape. Kind of sucks spending days trying to find a solution because I made it 43 days before I realized it.

This is a crappy island creator tool kit compared to the pc. I'll let the game take up extra real estate in my hard drive for it. Terrain manipulator would be the first thing to bring over

You know what irks me, This runs smoothly on ps5 and yet we get shitty graphics. They should really upgrade it for ps5
