One of the few times I read the NME raving about an EP and actually acted on their suggestions. Best decision I ever made. Still one of my all time favourite bands. Fond memories of being booted out of their Uni gig by The Embankment ( ULU?) when their smoke machine set off the fire alarms and shivering by The Thames until we were let back in. Toni strode up to the mic and laconically purred " well.. it wouldn't be a fucking Curve gig without a bit of drama would it?!"

Y'all get the phone app Bandsintown. It searches the music on your phone/tablet and lets you know when any of the bands that you have on there are touring. The bands from this era are all playing live again as it's the only way they can make money given that the general public expect music to be free. As a muso myself I prefer to buy my music and support the artists who create it. Saw the Sisters of Mercy earlier in the year thanks to the app. Bands like James are at Glastonbury this coming week. It's all good !!

The song's lyrics are sung from the perspective of a character who is struggling with their own demons and struggles. The lyrics make you feel trapped in a cycle of self-destructive behavior and they are desperate to find a way out. The song's music reflects the lyrics, with its melody and driving rhythms creating a sense of urgency and tension about finding the end of all the situations witch are immersed.

Not too sure about all the lyrics, here. In the video it's clear Toni sings: "It's just a little too late, it's never enough to swallow those pills...", rather than "It's just a little too me...". You can see and hear her pronounce the "t" of "late" at 2.36 towards the end of the vid. I might add, she has a habit of dropping her "t"s, I suspect that's her mashed up accent coming through.

Damn... Toni is goddess. And that music is just real bliss for me
I find it cosmically unfair that the single best looking woman of all time can also sing and song write to this extraordinary degree.
Oh my she's so beautiful it hurts.
Curve. The soundtrack of my life.
I should invent a time machine and spend the rest of my life going back in time to the 90s for shows by great bands like this.
My life was changed when I heard this. The intro plays in my head even now and it’s a reason to hear the song again. I supported at the time by getting all the CD EPs and I still stream those songs all the time from the album The Way Of Curve.
I fell in love with Toni the first time I heard her voice back in early 1991 then when I actually saw her live at the Astoria later that same year I really fell in love.... :)

"I fell in love with Toni the first time I heard her voice back in early 1991"...same here...kkkkk
Absolutely stunning track. Goosebumps every time.
The very best tune of 1991, winning my personal chart that year. All this time later, Toni’s haunting lyrics still have me hooked and captivated.
Oh my God another band I never heard of before now. I guess I'll have to go through all the brit indie bands from the 90's 'cause it seems I've been missing out a hell of a lot.
In order for this song to be fully appreciated one must play it really loud, through quality speakers, whilst completely off yer face.
Perfect. The high point in a pretty good decade musically.
O wow, I used to fancy her so much, I met her in Glasgow, after the show, I loved that they uae a wind machine live :)
Thank you Peter Steele for leading me to this band!
Sounds like the future ….epic, gorgeous, light years ahead of their time x
I've been listening to this song for three months. And there's no way I can stop it.
Stunning singer, awesome song, amazing band. So glad I got to see them live. Forever wishing I would get to see them again
This band is amaizing, why did I Know about them, when I was 15 or 16 years old? 90´s the best rock music era, for me.

A lot of "lost bands" from that era - Curve, Adorable, Belltower. I was gigging loads in London in those days - incredible scene when you could just turn up and get tickets on the night!

Well, shoegaze has been killed. By grunge and britpop
That wall of noise is amazing. I always want to start recording something when I listen to Curve.

Have similar feelings, during listening to "Loveless". Yet I have no skills
This song is utter perfection
That bass line start...🎶👂
Still sound so fresh, they were so underrated
The song's lyrics are sung from the perspective of a character who is struggling with their own demons and struggles. The lyrics make you feel trapped in a cycle of self-destructive behavior and they are desperate to find a way out. The song's music reflects the lyrics, with its melody and driving rhythms creating a sense of urgency and tension about finding the end of all the situations witch are immersed.
Above my bed, in this ugly room Hangs the whisper of the same man You can't be my father For the love we've shown It's just a little to me It's never enough to swallow those pills Now I'm sick, and always will be Take it, I don't want it You can have what you like Just don't try to trick me to sleep Don't turn out the lights You can't be my father For the love we've shown It's just a little to me It's never enough to swallow those pills Now I'm sick, and I always will be Dreams of meeting truth Be my father Dreams of meeting truth For the Dreams of meeting truth Be my father Dreams of meeting truth Now I'm sick, always, always, always Just when you thought it was all right Just when you thought it was all right Just when you thought it was all right Just when you thought it was all right Open your eyes now, girl Coast is clear Coast is clear Coast is clear Coast is clear Coast is clear Coast is clear Coast is clear Coast is clear Coast is clear Coast is clear

Not too sure about all the lyrics, here. In the video it's clear Toni sings: "It's just a little too late, it's never enough to swallow those pills...", rather than "It's just a little too me...". You can see and hear her pronounce the "t" of "late" at 2.36 towards the end of the vid. I might add, she has a habit of dropping her "t"s, I suspect that's her mashed up accent coming through.
after 20 years and so many bands I still come back to this track :)

Likewise..... it's such a dirty sounding track that ignites a high that one rarely gets through out the course of a normal day listening to Ken Bruce on radio 2, I fukin love this tune.
first Curve song I ever heard on Triple J in 1991, ran out and bought the Frozen EP that day... Still my favourite band today.
A great sounding band, and Toni was beautiful, will always be a fan.
Tony Halliday was one of the singers with more sex appeal and star quality I've ever seen, the band also were very talented with a unique sound, should've made it bigger, never understood what happened, a massive irruption in pop-rockc in the 90s
The first song of theirs I ever heard. Beautiful, incredible and unique. They led the way in saving me from my heavy metal blinkers 😁😍😎

Beautiful in every way
Awesome in every damn way The EP this is from is a total classic Man, Toni is awesome and the soundscapes from Dean are epic What's not to love ?
Many years ago I went to London for a few days. I entered a record store in Camdem Town, and I asked the boy at the counter if they have Doppelganger or at least a single record from Curve. He look at me and said "I dont know them". I was shocked
Toni
enjoy it still in covid-19 times
I still think this is one of the coolest songs and videos ever! The other being All in the mind by Verve!
sweet sweet 90's sound
Fucking goosebombs.Fucking goosebombs. Please re-unite and play shows with LUSH. I will get crazy!
i love this song. i find i cant take listening to any of their albums full on like coz Hallidays voice and the thick guitar makes my brain go wierd after a while, but if i just listen to any single track it always pleases me. im sorry i never saw them live.

brings back so many memories
Phenomenally good. The first few EPs and the Doppelgänger album, sucked me in and kept me hooked for a couple of years. Curve were streets ahead of most of the Indy music at the time.
Best band and sexiest woman of the 20 century

Toni looks like my sister did at that age, at the same point in time actually. Showed my son this vid and he said oh yeahh, it does look like his auntie did back then (from her photos - he's 20 lol).
such a good song

Hard to believe this is the very guy that at one time played bass on Eurythmics - There Must Be An Angel amongst others. Obviously with Anxious Records there is the Dave Stewart connection, but musically worlds apart.
