FUCKING EPIC SONG MAN.. Jesus, i remember hearing this when i was about 16 and it blew my mind, big chunky bass, the electronica, all the guitars and a sexy as hell lead singer. Why the hell they never went on to massive things is beyond me.

+NeonChimp I agree. The Shoegazer sound which I so love never really caught on. This band and Slowdive should have been massive but the music media turned their attention to the Seattle grunge scene.

+NeonChimp Garbage happened. Curve was on the way up, but got usurped by Shirley Manson, Butch Vig & co. Nothing against Garbage, they make really great music as Curve. But they got in the way of Curve's success not just because of music, but due to savvy marketing, sassier image, having more glam and Shirley Goddamned Manson. There was a feud back in the 90s between Garbage & Curve fans on who's the better band. Curve may have better music & talent but Garbage got ahead of Curve in popularity. Curve have at least a cult following, and their legacy lived on through SPC ECO headed by Dean Garcia's kid, Rose Berlin. IMO, I love both bands and they're both innovative & ahead of their times.

@@Germania9 True; Curve are to Garbage as The Sundays were to The Cranberries. The latter bands in each case took the sounds of the former and made more commercially successful versions of them. I'll take Curve and The Sundays over the other two personally.

Thank God for the Chart Show is what I say, it was the only thing worth getting up for on Saturday Mornings and without it i wouldn't have heard most of the great bands that i know and love today. it's where I first heard the Verve, This is Music, Curve, Max Q (Michael Hutchinson and co) and many others. A conspiracy theorist would say the powers that be don't want the youth of today to listen to great new music that stirs up actual emotions, just boy bands singing lyrics with little if any meaning, what the Hell has happened

One of the few times I read the NME raving about an EP and actually acted on their suggestions. Best decision I ever made. Still one of my all time favourite bands. Fond memories of being booted out of their Uni gig by The Embankment ( ULU?) when their smoke machine set off the fire alarms and shivering by The Thames until we were let back in. Toni strode up to the mic and laconically purred " well.. it wouldn't be a fucking Curve gig without a bit of drama would it?!"

Y'all get the phone app Bandsintown. It searches the music on your phone/tablet and lets you know when any of the bands that you have on there are touring. The bands from this era are all playing live again as it's the only way they can make money given that the general public expect music to be free. As a muso myself I prefer to buy my music and support the artists who create it. Saw the Sisters of Mercy earlier in the year thanks to the app. Bands like James are at Glastonbury this coming week. It's all good !!

The song's lyrics are sung from the perspective of a character who is struggling with their own demons and struggles. The lyrics make you feel trapped in a cycle of self-destructive behavior and they are desperate to find a way out. The song's music reflects the lyrics, with its melody and driving rhythms creating a sense of urgency and tension about finding the end of all the situations witch are immersed.

Not too sure about all the lyrics, here. In the video it's clear Toni sings: "It's just a little too late, it's never enough to swallow those pills...", rather than "It's just a little too me...". You can see and hear her pronounce the "t" of "late" at 2.36 towards the end of the vid. I might add, she has a habit of dropping her "t"s, I suspect that's her mashed up accent coming through.

Hard to believe this is the very guy that at one time played bass on Eurythmics - There Must Be An Angel amongst others. Obviously with Anxious Records there is the Dave Stewart connection, but musically worlds apart.

Yep.. and sadly it was partly what did for them.. the " purists" freaked out when the big ": E " connection was revealed and the music press turned on them. Pathetic.
