When you say "we" would be understanding. Sadly in retail that just does not happen. When it cones to bad news and making tough business choices the reality is the less you say the better it is. Rarely does trying to explan the detail of the problem change the focus for the customer. If you say we cannot get the print company to get produce any more. The customer just expects you to find another printer, without understanding these products are produced months in advanced.

Great conversation as always, especially the Cursed City stuff! On the topic of over-designed models, take a look at the GSC Kelermorph kit; he’s standing on a broken pipe, and the INSIDE of the pipe has a moldy skull. Who is this skull for? The Kelermorph is standing on it and he doesn’t even see it!

Blackstone Fortress had a bunch of cool expansions. There was the Technoarcheologist that recently was announced to be getting a general release, an additional rogue trader that never got a general release, and a bunch of updated models that also never got general releases. An updated Primaris Psyker, Crusader, Sevitor, a ZOAT! A few of them did end up in a Barnes and Noble boxed game but that was also limited both in the time it was available and in countries that had access.

At the risk of providing information that will come later in the video (yes, I'm being naughty and write a comment before I finish watching), Düsseldorf was indeed the location of the HQ of Games Workshop Germany, the Drakenburg. Big store with a big play area (not as big as Warhammer World, but still respectable). Large areas for employee training, organizational stuff, support, mail order and everything. I was working for Games Workshop in Germany at the time, so I had been there a couple of times. But then Games Workshop did away with all the regional HQs (or at least the German one). Bit sad, and I feel like the quality of the German stores did suffer. But that might just be my perception because my local store definitely did go down in quality.

About detail and greebles. Both are a help for the novice or busy painter; surface texture responds well to wash and dry brush, and the odd greeble breaks up the silhouette... but yeah, a model covered in very different greebles is a pain. Sculptors should tilt towards texture for rank and file troops; the marine mentioned could have been detailed with cracks, for example, responding well to "regular folk painting".

Loved the focus on Necromunda in this episode. It's a game my mate and I have only recently gotten into - he went with Cawdor and I've gone with Delaque. Given how Delaque are all bald, I took inspiration from the criminally underloved Alien 3 and named my gang the Echoes of Fiorina (named after the planet the prison is on in the movie). My mate bought STL files that let you make nameplates for your bases so I've named the gangers after the male characters from the movie and they all have their nameplates. We've only played one game and thankfully nobody died but it's going to happen and I'm dreading it! Just need to get them painted now! Really really enjoyed this episode and I'm waiting with baited breath for you guys playing Necromunda in the style of Tale of 4 Gamers!

Even the beginning, where there was zero GW discussion, had me glued to my tv. Something fascinating about cultural differences between the UK and the US. That Mordian army sounds awesome and is a very clever idea. I have never understood black rims. They make the bases look unpainted since most bases are black plastic. I use a lot of scenic bases and always paint them whatever color the "scene" should be. Most of them are stone or urban, so I end up with a lot of gray bases.

Been painting blood angels recently for someone and took a look through that painting guide from like 2014. GAH, it's amazing, nearly 200 pages about the 1st, 2nd and death company as well as background about them. I think it was kinda covered before when talking about making colour schemes but I'm curious how the guides like that one were done. Do the writers and artists come up with everything first and then the painters have to assemble the models to match their vision or did the painters get free rein to make and paint everything with the lore getting added after? And on that note this might be a space marine specific question but how much input did painters get to have on things like honour markings, banners or any other kind of unique detail that has to be painted on, like were painters able to create any of their own?

Well. I'm not American, but I'm also not British, so I appreciated the explanation of a "jammy dodger." Now I know that it, like so many British things, is exactly the same as what we have in Canada but with a weird name. (We call those fruit creme cookies. Some folks call them "French cremes," but that's actually a brand name. They do come in various flavours although raspberry-ish and strawberry-ish are the most common.)

Just a quick one on pouches, I served with a lad who was OBSESSED with buying extra pouches for his kit. He was covered in them, but never had enough kit to fill them, so they were mainly filled with spare socks haha He always struggled getting in prone position too. He was a bit of a mong tbh lol

That Space Marine Captain you’re talking about not having (the one based off of the 2nd Ed model) is the model I’ve got and think I’ve done the best paint job I’ve ever done on 😂 it’s the model I’m legit most proud of! 😂

I know everyone mentions this, and there's some definite shady shenanigans going on in the space. But the elephant in the room here is 3D Printing. 3D Printing an entire plate of shoulderpads is currently possible, as for example printing an entire 'Battle Brother'; so torso/legs, helmet and weapon, costs about 15p in resin. You cannot tell me, regardless of how much the sculptors are paid, that making those as Made to Order Resin, couldn't be 10 Shoulderpads in a box for 5 Pound each and STILL not make money. Hell the made to order could be done in the bloody shop! It's absolute madness.

The toothpaste story reminds me of many situations I've been in. I live in China and can mostly get about now, but when I first moved over I couldn't speak much. So many times miming things or trying to explain what it is. 'Do you have the thing to clean your teeth? Not the brush, the white stuff' 'Do you have a machine for toasting bread?' 'Do you have a tooth brush for your hair?' 'Do you have the brown/yellow drink with bubbles for parties? Children can't drink it'

15:00 yes I am kinda lazy when it comes to bases but for the vast majority of stuff I own black base works just nice. Also like peachy said mine are mostly for display so easy and a good reason to keep it black

It is a wonderful experience arguing about bread at University, you get people from all over the country bringing their own words. Potts bakers in Barnsley label them Teacakes which was an excellent bit of "proof" to bolster my argument!

Decal sheets are a bug bear for me as Forge World used to make loads, including Raptors, and Minotaurs that became a bit of a fave in FW books partly down to Phil Stucinskas collecting them as his own army and I think Mark Bedford too but once they went away that was it and they changed hands for £100 and up for what was once a £15-20 A4 sheet. The HH ones that disappeared could go for over £200 as they got rare. To stop 3rd parties making alternatives is taking the piss when GW won't or can't be bothered to produce their own.

Can we get a part 2 to this? Not just cover the box game expansions, but the white dwarf mission releases and maybe even the community fixes for some of the problems in the game. It seems like its slowly becoming a real game.
