    It looks absolutely beautiful! It's crazy how healthy and thick our hair & ends can look in its curly state, but once flatironed look super different, lol. Your length is beautiful- try not to feel down about it.

    Your curls look so juicy-especially with the mask on! It was so satisfying watching you flat iron your hair lol, it turned out amazing as always! I think Supercuts would have cut WAY more off than you did and you did an amazing job

    This was satisfying to watch! I see a different in length I even noticed your hair is growing faster on the top where the layers aren’t as visible as before it’s catching up. I wish I took the time to understand my hair after having my son but it’s never to late to learn a few tips and tricks now. Thank you for sharing ☺️

    Hair looks fabulous as always Gwen! 🥰 I just wanted to say in terms of pp shedding it could take up to 2 years for your hair to return to normal….I know my son changed the complete texture of my hair during pregnancy and birth and it took me the almost 3 years to return to normal but atleast he got the long hair, eyelashes, and nails 😆 so give yourself grace because your doing Amazing and everything is happening on time! Also, you did an amazing job cutting your hair! I have been doing my hair myself for over 8 years now since I walked into a salon with bsl hair and walked out with shoulder length hair after I was told I only needed a “trim”! I also only trim my hair about once a year and it’s waist length now so I rarely by into the hype of the whole 6-8week trim recommendation. It seems like you already do an amazing job of monitoring your hair so just a trim when you feel is needed is great! Love to see you and the family doing so well❤

    Whoa waist length?!? Let’s gooo! That’s amazing:) how do you mainly wear your hair? I’m hearing more and more people say trimming every 6-8 weeks is too much and I think I’ll start following once a year or trimming as needed

    @@Offthebeatenpath. Yes, trimming as needed will retain much more length in my opinion. In terms of my styles, I do low manipulation styles like buns, braid outs, and twist outs on wet and moisturized hair for the most part. Any stretched styles will happen during that period and before wash day. I’m hopping to master a wash n go but I haven’t had luck with those styles yet! I do heat style my hair during fall and winter months but not so much during spring and summer given the climate that I live in tends to be really humid during those months. But lately I’ve been so busy with my husband and kids, that two braids is all I’ve been having time for 😁

    You know Gwen you look absolutely gorgeous and I love the hair! I’m personally going to just straighten my hair every 3 weeks which works for me. Because like you said, when it’s out in the kinky state I mess with it more. When it’s straightened I touch it less. And if manipulation is the problem whatever hairstyle you feel the most comfortable wearing out without touching I think is what works. For some its twists for others it’s straight. But I can’t get over how beautiful your hair is 😍

    I agree with the straightening every 3 weeks! It’s easier to manage and for me is a lot less maintenance! I may consider straightening it more often

    Girl, I get all the feelings curly hair is sometimes tricky I think our hair is prone to breaking and retaining the length takes patience. I LOVED how your hair turned out its gorgeous! I think it's fun to be curly and straight hair. When you say twist out or protective styling what does that exactly ? Like twisting your natural hair? I am sorry if that sounds silly.

  • @Offthebeatenpath.

    @Offthebeatenpath.

    It’s not silly! Protective style meaning twist, mini twist, braids, sewins, wigs, any style that involves your hair being tucked away

    @@Offthebeatenpath. oh okay I get it. lol my dad said I need to braid my hair and out some oil in it. Apparently he knows about protective styling. I’m not a good hair keeper. I always fried and dyed it. I want to actually retain length for once in my life. So this is a journey. My dad always dad our hair growing up and then when we got older he had us go to black beauty schools and the woman there took care of our hair.

    Thanks for this video Gwen! Your hair looks AMAZING btw! I just straightened my hair for the first time in 5 years and it grew so much. The longest I've ever had my hair and it's really because I wore protective styles and moisturized it with a lot of nourishing products every other day or so. I totally get what you're saying though! It seems pointless to not be able to enjoy your hair if it's always in a protective style =/ Love your pin curl tip! Will use it since I'm not good at wrapping my hair anymore and wasn't sure what else I could do! Be blessed🙏🏼

    Wow 5 years 👏👏 way to go! I see how you got so much growth because protective styling definitely works! I wore mainly twist during my pregnancy because I couldn’t be bothered and it got me long and healthy hair 😬
