When I tell you history repeats itself.... We called it a "straw rod set" back in the 90's. I wore them faithfully. It does take time to rod/roll with the straws. We did not throw the straws away when we took them out. We literally used them again and again... It is a great protective style and the older the hairstyle get the better it looked.. @@Jessica-iq6kj Bobby pins you wrap the hair around and then when you get to the end you fold the straw up and secure with a Bobby pin.

For everyone wanting to recreate this: Use pencils and pens instead. You most likely already have them and this way you don’t have to throw something (toxic) out because it is single use.

Dybutal phthalate, (the liquid in glow sticks), have a pretty low toxicity. Unless you drink a bunch of it, an ER will likely just send you home and tell you to drink water and eat something. Plus glow sticks are thinner so the effect would be better than pens or pencils.

@@stevenopolis3155 My point is that it is a single use item, and even though the liquid is not super toxic, it still is bad. When throwing it away you are lucky if it get incinerated or properly buried in a landfill because then it cannot harm any wildlife or nature. But the reality is that a lot of especially smaller waste like this somehow makes it way out of the waste system, into the environment and is potentially harmful. If you produce a toxin it will stay on this earth even after you’ve thrown it away. i know that they are not super toxic. I’ve chewed on one when I was younger and poison control said the same thing you did. And I’m pretty sure that the difference in glow sticks and standard pencils isn’t big enough to have a significant impact on the result.

Her friend: Wow, how did you curl your hair? Her: Uh I used glow sticks. Her friend: 😶

I used to do this when I was a kid using straws 😂 was so fun

Hey, break from my regular degenerate commenting on yt shorts to say Even if it isnt the new hot thing, anything about anyone is absolutely beautiful, its just some people just dont see it, which no one can control or stop. Sun, youre beautiful the way youre born and i want you to know and feel the same way even when people dont "love them" anymore. I for one, have always had a small complex about bringing kimchi to school, but ive always stood up for it because its a beautiful part of my beautiful culture. (i immigrated from korea as a kid) Then the whole asian fetishization thing happened and people kinda didnt mind it anymore, which is kinda weird but oh well. Did it help with my life in any significant way? Did it impact the way i viewed my food and culture? No to either those questions, but thats off the point now. In conclusion, im telling you as a rando on the web that youre beautiful no matter what, and that your personal views shouldnt be a reflection of what the majority sees in you, thats a dangerous game to play. No matter hair, skin, style, whatever some people are just not beautiful. And saying "everyone is beautiful" is just a lie. And puts an over valued meaning on appearance.

a few years ago to curl my hair I used a pencil and curled a piece of hair around the pencil, then used a straightener and would clamp around the pencil that had the piece of hair, and the curls looked exactly like that. Took me about an hour tho

They are known as leave in curls which works longer if you have wet hair and let it (fully) dry. Try it it actually is pretty easy though time consuming

if she wet set them or used heat then they would last a really long time but i think she did it dry with no heat so probably 3 days?
