@David Krappenschitz If you don't expand the playoffs the only teams that will have a chance to compete in the playoffs are Power 5 teams. How fair is that? NCAA FBS should AT LEAST open up 2 to 4 more slots to allow the opportunity for non-Power 5 teams.

The best bowl game of the year so far. One weird coaching call with the non-touchdown and fumble by Liberty which would have prevented overtime. I get the coach wanted to use up time but just tell the players to take a knee and call a time out at the last moment to set up a kick. I think some of the coaches were on separate pages. Players did the best they could. Both teams played well and I'm proud of both of them.

That was dumb how u show one short pass play with 5 minutes left in game then skip 2 minutes and not show how coastal got to first and goal

Hey Sun Belt, is there a way to add Liberty to the conference to not only give the Sun Belt a major boost, but also to restore Liberty and Coastal Carolina’s rivalry?

Liberty did all they could to give that game away. That being said...don’t EVER trust a kicker

You can see on the replay his arm let go of the ball and then roll back across the line. He was definitely in and it was a touchdown. I agree though, boneheaded play. Either take a knee or run it in, you can't do both.

It’s a new style that is the equivalent of hack-a-Shaq basketball. I’m not a fan.... Basically you know you’re going to score, but you know your defense is trash so you take as much time as possible off the clock and then score a FG in the final seconds. If they were good team, they’d score a TD and then have their defense make stops.

Liberty beat two power 5 schools this year... They were ranked the entire season until they barely lost their one and only game to NC State. Coastal hadn’t really played anyone huge minus BYU.

In the ap poll liberty is ranked. Liberty wasn't a terrible team they lost the one game by 1 point in a blocked field goal. On a side note that would've been great for their program has they won because then they would've got the same deal as ND with the acc and play 5 acc teams every year

I am not a fan of either teams but that "fumble" at the end was bs. He CLEARLY crossed the goal line on that run before the ball came out. That was a garbage tier level call.

Nah, if you actually watched the game they showed another angle where you could see the ball and the goal line clearly. For whatever reason, the RB reached his hand backwards with the ball and then dropped it, so it never crossed the goal line. It was called on the field and reviewed, so no controversy there. Amazing game!

The ball has to cross the line, not the guy. You can see that it was Libertys intention to score. Their QB walks up to the line and leans back to not score. Ironically the CCU guys are actually trying to push him over the line.

@@Reloading20 it was because they didn't want to score. Liberty's intention was to run the clock down and kick a game winning field goal, while Coastal was smart enough to see what they were trying to do, and tried dragging him in.

im all for referees holding flags in crunch time but thay was an absolute terrible no call in overtime..

They had 34 sacks in 12 games, 13 ints and over 25 total turnovers only allowing over like 19 a game how’s that overrated. Yes they should of put a QB spy on Willis but the defense has been good pretty much all year. So you really don’t know what your talking about look up the stats to tell

Yeah, because that's how sports work. That's why we dont have seasons and we just give the championship to whichever team has the best roster. That's why in basketball when the overall 1 seed Virginia loses to a terrible 16 seed they just put Virginia back in for the final four. Its not because of how coastal played today, its actually: - Because the committee favor teams with large football fanbases and big market conferences to help generate TV revenue over wins. 6-3 Texas is ranked over 9-1 liberty. - The committee also uses an inconsistent criteria when evaluating teams when rewarding wins and losses? Yeah they like to credit the p5 schools for losing to ranked p5 schools, discredit g5 schools for losing to ranked p5 schools. Lose your conference championship? come on Down Notre Dame. Only win 6 games? 1 of which being against a team with a winning record prior to the big ten championship? Come on in OSU! those SOS arguments used for years suddenly don't apply to you. - Because teams like this don't have the luxury of overrated conference opponents that start in the preseason polls to bolster SOS? Michigan, Penn State, FSU, USC, Auburn, etc. - Teams like this also don't get the luxury of high placement to begin their season either. Like in week 5 when OSU started at #6. - Because teams like this don't get the same benefit of doubt after losing games like Florida did when they Lost to unranked LSU and dropped 1 spot in the polls. - [edit] Because P5 schools continue to poach coaches from g5 schools creating instability. No surprise you see no consistency from them. - [edit] Because recruiting ranking sites tend to markdown recruits that commit to g5 teams and markup p5 commits. Boise states success this decade is obvious but they never landed a top 50 recruiting class in the last 10 years? But the 2018 2-10 Arkansas team that lost by 27 to north texas pulls a top 30 class? OK - Because teams like this are always told that they need to schedule tougher opponents but everyone forgets there's about 130 teams and it's highly improbable for a team like this to be lucky enough to have that kind of schedule, thus eliminating more than 50% of the field from playoff contention? Teams lose out on playoff spots the moments schedules are finalized and the preseason top 25 is released dude

And that’s why they were scared to play UL ...

Liberty lone loss was ironically a blocked FG against NCST. They lost that game 15-14. That turns out to be their only loss of the year. 11-1 season for Hugh Freeze is noteworthy. Coastal Carolina had a historical season as well also going 11-1 and the highest ranked Sun Belt school ever. So this was a hard fought game that both teams played their hearts out.

You laugh, but Liberty was ranked in the AP Polls, and had beaten 2 Power 5 schools. In fact, Liberty's lone loss came off a blocked field goal against NC State.

Karma, that's all i can say. Good game by Liberty and a good win. Coastal shouldn't have been undefeated as is, no thanks to garbage officiating in their game against BYU. Regardless, no one outside the power 5 is ever getting any love from the CFP committee unless there's a major overhaul. No way a 6-3 NC team should be ahead of Liberty or BYU.

As much as I loved the boise state team that beat Oklahoma, the ucf team that beat auburn, and the little guys basically.... I have to admit, this was not the same team level that boise or ucf put up in the past. Ccu would have gotten trainewrecked by ANY of the playoff teams. Bama by 45, clemson by 42, Ohio by 35, notre dame by 28. Being realistic. Could doesn't have anywhere near the offensive firepower to compete. The boise st team that beat Oklahoma would have blown this ccu team out. Same with the ucf team over auburn. They had a star quarterback and some receivers and ran the right system. Boise had their trick plays and odd formations and a qb that was good and made the nfl. This comment is not to hate on ccu, but to give an honest opinion.

Coastal Carolina was the Cinderella Team of the year. I'm so proud of you and I wasn't even a fan before this year. There's only one college team that I hate and guess who it is ! Jerry Falwell and his Liberty University. I live 40 minutes from Boone and I love Appy State and I'll never forget their win on the Big House. I hate Tennessee Vols too, I forgot. But anyway COASTAL CAROLINA WAS A TOP TEN TEAM AMD LIBERTY BEAT RHEM WITH SOME REAL BAD CALLS AND NO CALLS. They Held the Tight end on Third down. Two defenders STOPPED him on his route. I just can't stand anything about Liberty University. Falwell set up eleven profit center with "Christian schools" while the evil Betsy devoss shipped money to his schools, they were still losing money, so Falwell made a speech at one of their mandatory auditorium meetings. He said that any student that went to any of their primary schools from at least 5-12 grades would get free scholarships at LU. 9 years later , after $3300 per year ($30,000) + the taxpayer money that a religious organization was given , Falwell did not hold true to his word , and at the time he was spending $50 million building on to LU and watching his wife bang the pool boy in a hotel room a couple hundred times. What does that have to do with football? Everything. The more money that goes to Satan, the more theft and corruption happens. If you ever stop by Liberty you’ll figure out real quick that most students don’t care about the Falwell’s. They go there for a Christian education. People have wanted the Falwell name gone for years.

And to think there are people who think expanding the playoffs to 16 teams is a good idea. We barely ever have 4 worthy teams let alone 8 or 16. Anyone thinking Coastal was #12 in the country and could even compete with one of the top 5 is crazy.

Well this is why Coastal didn't make the top 4.

John T ...Liberty is a good team. Who said they weren’t? But Coastal is too. And the referees hosed Coastal all game long. I could name 4-5 calls or non-calls by the refs that decided the outcome of that game.

Refs cheated Coastal Carolina out of the game. There were at least 3 flags that should have been thrown against Liberty that resulted in 21 points. Game shouldn't have been even close.

To be fair both of these have been in the fbs for less than 5 years. If they can continue with the momentum they built this season they will be great teams soon

To be fair, Liberty beat two Power 5 schools this year, and their only loss of the season was to NC State off a blocked field goal. Not to mention, Liberty and Coastal have been rivals since their FCS days, and rivalries tend to bring out hard fought close games.

@@howardbaxter2514 youre not wrong, good points but seriously do you believe that TAMU or Florida would not have won by 35 plus bc where TAMUs O is god their D is better than OSU OR ND, and The Gators D is very good but their O is insane so whether you think those two and or the Sooners you gotta know that CC and Cincinnati just arent up to the task, now if you were to replace ND or OSU with in order of dominance Aggies, Gators, or Sooners you wouldnt be wrong and as to you point about rivalries TAMU and OK both do that against Bama and as of recently Clemson too whereas people talk up the Buckeye-Tigers rivalry its really not, maybe it was but for the recent past its just Clemson always beating an overhyped OSU team with a QB that isnt half as good as the sport/media/conference try to make us believe he is but its just a system where the numbers look good even with an amazing athlete who couldnt hit a van in between the hash marks, but hey i bet he winds up as a great H-back or TE on Sundays he just wont be throwing the ball on Sundays now that cat in Florida is gonna be ripping and running and we’ll get this all confirmed on draft day. Mark my words with Lawerence off the board the next two come out of the swamp or Mormon U way before Fields ever takes one as an NFL starter.

Why? Liberty is a really good team. They beat two Power 5 schools, and nearly beat a third. In fact, according to the AP Polls, they were a top 25 team.
