Curator's Corner: Revolving Rifles (Part 2)
www.nramuseum.org Repeating long guns evolve from percussion to cartridge models. John Popp joins National Firearms Museum Director Jim Supica for the second of two segments on revolving rifles and shotguns. This weeks models utilize the development of self-contained cartridges, starting with the innovative Roper repeating shotgun. After displaying two unidentified prototype repeaters, Supica finishes with an unpopular rifle adaptation of the Smith & Wesson revolver, complete with a lengthened barrel and detachable shoulder stock.

Why would the Roper need a shield to protect against a hot gas/material jet from the cylinder gap when it's feeding a cartridge from a revolving carrier into a chamber in the barrel?
that one with no makers mark is awesome- a shame it never really caught on
I own three. Armi San Marco made reproductions of Army black powder calvary model with an attachable stock. So did Pietta. If you look at a Cabellas catalog you will still find them available by other makers. Ivar Johnson also mad their Cattleman series revolver with an attachable stock. I have one in 44 magnum.
So interesting
Glad I could help!
I think Uberti and or Rossi make a revolving rifle. Also, Taurus makes the Circuit Judge, which is a revolving rifle.
I would love to go to the NRA museum one day.
@mastertracuer they already do, the new taurus judge revolver/rifle in .410 and 45LC
ok thanks, will defiantly pay a visit if I'm in the aria
he forgot about the winchester model 1887 when talking about repeating shotgun
I heard if you put bear fat/oil on it, it would stop these chain fires.
@top2percent theyve made the judge into a rifle as well
They make a rifle version called "The Circuit Judge"
@21343 this video is about revolver rifles not lever action
Why were the early Revolving Percussion rifles bad, why did they have chain fires.
where is it
where is this museum?
