I just saw a link posted elsewhere today from the CARB site that goes into a bit more detail about the allegations, which also mentions the emissions components will be granted an extended warranty. You scrolled by the little blurb about it on that first page you showed, but it's there too. Obviously, no details on how long that will be, but my presumption is it's going to have to be up to 150-200k miles to make legitimate sense, honestly. Many of these components fail before 100k, like mine did, and they were never able to figure out the issues at the dealer, despite replacing a couple components and clearing my limp mode warnings on 5 separate visits. Truthfully, if I were an owner that sunk $5,000-$10,000 having to replace the entire system on my own dime, I'd be livid!! I wouldn't be surprised if this leads to a significant class-action lawsuit by owners against Cummins as well, in the relatively near future. I was fortunate to have the extended warranty, but once I hit 100k, the dealer had no business ever touching my truck again, for good reason. This is gonna be a real interesting saga, but it does chap my ass a little bit that if this was indeed found in 2018, my truck didn't hit 100k until 2021 and I could have potentially had an additional warranty on top of my extended that I paid for. Maybe I would have actually been able to have the problem/s fixed and covered entirely instead of having to take necessary alternative measures to prolong the longevity of my beloved truck! Thanks for keeping everyone posted and I'll be interested to hear more from you, since you seem to be right on top of it!

Hats off to Cummins for at least trying to avoid the bureaucratic BS. Thumbs down however for paying the fine. I wish all manufactures would refuse to sell p[roducts to california.

Why can’t we just follow the rules, there’s 308+ American people not everyone is gonna be happy but it affects all of us..

Nothing new in California with emission recalls. The dealer will give you the form filled out when completed before you leave the dealer, and send it in when you get your renewal notice in the mail. Also like mentioned above. All new or used trucks affected with the recall will be flashed before they can sell. Sometimes dealers are notified from manufacture to stop sale before complete.

I kind of think this is to back the guys who deleted their trucks in a corner. A few states already stated that they will not register these trucks until the update has been done which is probably nothing really at all but an inspection on the dealers part.

I also believe from reading up on this recall. The emission flash will use more DEF to meet the Nox output. That’s why the ‘20+ trucks use more DEF than the 2013-2019’s. The 2020+ should be clear of having the recall.

2019 trucks and 2013-2015 trucks that didn't receive the recall in 2017. And the recall is voluntary.

Time to get out the fuck out of California. Leave all the politicians there to wonder what the hell happened

Thank you for the kind words. How I am understanding it is there are driving scenarios that the truck doesn't meet emissions and they knew this. That is the violation they are in trouble with the EPA.

Sooooo that kinda means then the motor is preforming the way it should as a real diesel and not being polluted with exhaust bring out back into the motor which is why ppl delete trucks? If that’s the case I’m certainly not getting mine reprogrammed. I’m also already reading blogs with question surrounding performance, fuel economy and if there any ‘kinks’ that need to be fixed with the software update. In closing, anything having to do with the government I have zero faith whatsoever. Take note where this started and ended. California!!!!! The socialist, Marxist borderline Nazi regime

I just got a recall for a Particulate Matter Sensor that wasnt installed from the factory on my 2022 Ram 6.7. Hmm, truck runs great and ive had zero issues. I dont believe ill be taking that in for installation.

And Washington state does NOT have annual inspections or testing for registration. So up until now if you had a deleted RAM in this 2013-2023 range you were fine. If the state with Democrat control in all legislative branches, requires the dealer certificate for the annual license plate renewal then your last year of driving the truck is right now until your renewal is up sometime this year. I never understood why people would do the deletes because they are always one state rule change away from getting their truck devalued to zero, unless they undo the delete.

We had a pcm update made us do it on the 6.7 power stroke i have a 15 they said it was for emissions and I couldn’t get my tags until I did it

Since having this done my engine lopes, mentioned it to the dealer and they said they didn’t know what kind of issues it might cause. When I watch the RPM, command rail pressure and fuel rail pressure they look like a saw blade .

@@CTECH-REVIEW All the time. Took it back to the Ram dealer for diagnostic. After 2 days they said I need all new injectors… They wont re-flash until injectors are replaced. I have less than 60K miles . I’ve replaced both filters, the high pressure regulator, the rail pressure relief valve and cleaned the EGR. Currently it’s at a truck repair shop for more diagnostic investigation. Delayed our annual trip to Arizona until resolved. Snowing in Arkansas.

The registration renewal to my 2018 Ram here in Kalifornia is tied to getting this update. Won't be able to register it till it's done.

Chances are if this flash only increases the DEF usage, there is a very good chance. It also increases the duty cycle of the EGR, which they work kind of together, which will intern put more black sludge into your intake.

FYI all recalls have to be completed before a dealer can resell a vehicle no matter what the recall is and no matter the state. So any used bought from here on out will have to have recall fixed

purchased a brand new 2023 ram 3500 deleted it before the first oil change, the last truck went right to the junkyard, so I never need to worry about trade in value or anything I ever do to it ( they’re mine until the end) 😊

@Buff… That only works if the state doesn’t require the recall certificate from the dealer to get the license tabs for the annual reoccurring registrations. Clearly this would not work for anyone in California and my guess is that will not work for anybody in the 17 CARB states that usually follow California for emission standards. If you deleted your truck in any of these states you will have to un-delete first, get the recall done or you are SOL.

Only on new vehicles the recalls must be performed before they can sell them. Used vehicles doesn’t matter.

Ok dealing with parts of the Clean Air act at work on a US Military base, the EPA has the power, PERIOD. The EPA, State Clean air board, Department of Defense are heavily involved. If you are in violation of the law you are responsible. Not only Vehicle emissions are part of the law, so are Locomotives, Tractors and construction equipment, stationary power, Paint booths, production facilities, powerplants and the list goes on and on. That law has been in effect since 1964. Now they have found ways to easily enforce it. Many videos on KZread show the people who installed defeat devices getting those nice letters stating their violation and where to send the check. Ask the diesel brothers and a few others. Yes its a sad shame but we are now living in a different world.

Guess what, it’s not a law is it regulation there is a difference, regulations are not legally enforceable. It’s much the same way with the ATF everything the ATF does is not constitutionally legal because they have no power to create laws. Neither does the EPA and nothing has been created in law by Congress regarding emissions. Period.
