I have used the stock AC systems but it's a snug fit, heat wrapped the exhaust pipe & sprayed the firewall & ac box with lizzard skin b4 applying a foil sound deadening all the way under the cab & inside, you have vac for the inside controls The aftermarket kits all fit inside but are visible below the dash to kick as well as your glove box becomes super small but prob your best bet unless you score a parts truck. Plan is to install a suburban rear heat & ac unit under the 3rd seat in the 6 door.

I just keep putting it off, and driving with the windows down. I got rid of the vacuum pump so I am pretty much pigeon holed to the aftermarket.

All other Cummins swaps I've seen had the motor mounts moved back on the frame to clear room for the intercooler and Rad up front. How were you able to bypass this?

  • @brianuerling4830

I had to modify the core support a little for the intercooler but honestly the cummins fits in a squarebody better than a second gen dodge. I will look to see if I can find a picture of my core support.

@@brianuerling4830 & the square body medium duty models which are those bigger size trucks with the same cab design but smaller rear window were produced from 1973 - 1990. The square body pickups were the first generation Chevys & GMCs to have an optional bigger cab which was the crew cab like that one there in the video & they were introduced in 1973 which was also the first year for the square bodies. Unlike the crew cabs today which are available on half ton models with short boxes, the square body crew cabs on the other hand were only available on three quarter ton & one ton models & only had long fleetside boxes.

@@brianuerling4830 fun facts, in 1987, the C/K series were dropped & renamed R/V series to make a distinction between the square body models & the upcoming next generation C/K series pickups for the 1988 model year which were the OBSs because both of those body designs were gonna be in production at the same time which lasted up through 1991. The one ton regular cab pickups were the only models with both body designs produced at the same time which happened from 1988 - 1989. From 1988 - 1991, the OBSs only came in regular & new extended cab pickup models at the time because the crew cab pickups & SUVs with the previous square body design were still in production through those years.
