Cummins-Powered Kenworth T909 Road Train | Review | Truck TV Australia

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Matt Wood tests out the Cummins-powered Kenworth T909 in a road train configuration.
Kenworth's T909 is a popular choice for road train haulers as well as quite few single trailer operators.
For some it's about the big--banger looks, for others it's about the long wheel base and limo like ride.
These days the big bonneted Kenworth is dependent solely on Cummins power.

That 909 is the new version of the old Aussie special isn't it? That's a cool looking rig. Love that tall ass second story look. Can't find a model of this particular truck! Kinda pisses me off.

Great truck, I wish I could afford one, but hey it's a full size 53.5m roadtrain triple, not a B triple, can't believe you guys made that mistake lol

Great vid. What was the fuel mileage? Out of interest, what did the truck get without trailers?

Better have a MX-13, of which the fuel milage is way better. Here you can see how this engine is doing in Brazil. kzread.info/dash/bejne/gJl42LCjltq9dps.html

Thats the way most legs get bent, by hooking up without the legs wound up, didn't they write that on the corn flakes packet??

About 6 years of triples in the Pilbara actually and if its done as you suggested its all fine, but most of the time a lot of blokes don't and that is when legs get bent.

ISX 15 E5. no egr, uses a Holset HE600 turbo i believe. all emissions are done on the back-side of the exhaust via def/ad-blue.

Why do you Aussies call Def adblue? Kind of a stupid name

  • @dalelc43

Let me guess your American? "BlueHDI" tradename used for Group PSA's own selective catalytic reduction system used in Peugeot, Citroen, and DS Automobiles brands. "BlueTec" tradename used for Daimler AG's own selective catalytic reduction technology using DEF. "FLENDS" (short for Final Low Emission New Diesel System) tradename used for UD Trucks' own selective catalytic reduction technology using DEF. The German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) registered the trademark AdBlue. Now, why did America and the rest of the world give it different names? Australia just chose the German one. Why did you call it def, kind of stupid name, have you got hearing problems?

D.E.F. Diesel Exhaust Fluid that's where def comes from. That long worded explanation you gave basically says, that's the generic trade name yeah? Adblue? Well not generic trade name, actual product name, but has become generic for diesel exhaust fluid in your industry. Personally my boss and I call it "the magic water" cuz basically all it is ,is approx 88% distilled water and 12% urea. That's the mix we use in their Ford and Chevy pickups and all the John Deere equipment we have that requires it. It's a bill of goods fellas. Absolutely no reduction of power with straight well water. Know a guy that fills his right out the garden hose. Has done since truck was three months old,has over 250,000 on it now.
