I said hi to him, asked him how he was doing, he immediately asked me what the music was that I was playing - I told him Culture club, with a confused look on his face he asked me if they were a new band as hed never heard them before, A quick conversational trip back to 1984 & off he went. I am almost your age, I grew up with Bowie and others, forever grateful..... Not saying that all music nowadays is crap but you have to search for the gems. Btw my teen daughter is listening to a lot of old stuff from like the 50s, 60s, 70s and not so much new music. I was teen in the 90s and honestly! Most music in the 90s was really crap as well with dance and techno starting out. A lot of Culture Club songs were already 10 years old by then and there sure were not that many others of my age fan of Boy George 😅

Along with "Kissing to Be Clever"... so many musically crisp gems on that one... resonating with so many peoples... and what contemporary composition could compete with the danceable soundscape of "White Boy"... much less its remix(s)? Sheesh! I had the lyrics(listened to over and over & hand-written) of "I'm Afraid of Me" as a poster on my bedroom wall... and later(about a week, so it was quick) my father and step-mother thought I was contemplating suicide because they misinterpreted it. That was an icebreaking dialog with much relief of their concerns, when they realized my joy at having something to relate to in my life. :-)

I was just a so-so fan of the group, but from what I've heard, to me this always stuck out as an unheralded gem. A fine soulful vocal by George, a good riff, a meaningful message and an upbeat catchy chorus, but I always thought that the song was just a wee bit fast in tempo, which in a strange way meant it didn't quite mesh with the aforementioned assets. This is the Club's most underrated song, which probably went unrecognized because at he time the worldwide hype for the band and the lead singles from this album were huge. A great album track which deserved single status & exposure. Show less

Sounds like something that would play in a casino.
Boy George is my First and Only White Guy who Doesn't look Perfect but their Personality, Essence; Intelligence , and be Witty; makes them Gorgeous and in their Own Unique Way.... No One can do it better the Original in That Boy George Style So it's All His, I Want One Day....🤔🤔😎😎💙💦

Tune, what a track, up tempo with true lyrics and unashamedly gay Gwarn Boy George
Mr man is in your hands.........Great song.
It's a lie for folks to say that gay men don't create something in this world. Haven't you all noticed that gay men are among the most creative and alluring when it comes to art, music, fashion and designs? Sorry but I don't think if they were straight, they would have the same level of creativity, sensibility and awareness!
😍😍😍😍✌️🙋🏻♀️🇲🇽
I absolutely love that look at 1:29. Its also in the thumbnail. He’s got red hair and wearing the sheepskin/faux fur top. Does anybody know where this footage is from? Was it a TV appearance?
