Cultural intelligence -- a new way to think about global effectiveness | Jeff Thomas | TEDxSpokane

This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. It is a small world and we need to increase our Cultural Intelligence (CQ) to compete in the global environment. Explore this idea with the speaker for a better understanding of the world around you and to make a difference in your global future.
Jeff Thomas is a highly experienced international executive. For the largest part of his career, he ran one of the largest international student travel companies in the world, Ambassador Programs, which had students from over 100 different countries participating in the program. As CEO for Ambassador Programs, Jeff worked with a number of educational institutions to ensure that students were learning and developing personally while traveling around the world. Part of that work was developing and documenting “Cultural Intelligence.” Jeff is currently the Founder and CEO of a small investment firm that is working to expand from the United States into the Middle East.
About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

Americans speak of international cooperation from a point of power and naivety about Human Nature. International relations should never be devoid of suspicions about intentions of other actors. Do not think other peoples don’t want American Power without the benevolence it comes with.

I feel sorry for you. You must have lead a sheltered life if you feel uncomfortable in other cultures.
