Ours only lived 12 years but he had a great personality.He only went in his cage at night and we left our Xmas tree up year for him as it was his favorite perch.the cats even like him.

@@randquadrozzi1280 They seem to do really well without a cage. I raised mine for a year or 2 without a cage, and I managed to train him to only fly to one of his perch setups I made for him. I also let him free fly outside while I worked on my car, and he always came back when I called for him.

This is genuinely the best thing I’ve seen in like the last month I swear. Definitely would love more like this.

I love how they puff up like a baby ballooon.

I’m surprised that the dove sat there and be touched like that. The Mourning Doves I see around here don’t let any humans or anything else get close to them. They fly away and just sit on top of a garage or telephone wires. They are some real cuties!!!😊😊😊😊

This isn't a Mourning dove. It's Ringneck Dove and is not found in the wild at all. This bird was trained and raised around people.

@@majesticdovesaviaryllc1107 My mistake, he looks like a mourning dove because of the colors and the cooing he does. My sister’s backyard is full of mourning doves and she pointed them out to me since I’ve never saw one. He’s cute nevertheless.

@@Iyiaksemlar4 I totally understand. It's actually illegal to keep a Mourning dove as a pet. Ringneck Doves have been kept as pets for over 3000 years.

@@majesticdovesaviaryllc1107 Okay! I learn something new everyday. I don’t know anyone who has Mourning Doves for pets. They are wild in my sister’s yard. She has a little feeding area for them and when they are out eating, she keeps her dog indoors so he won’t mess with them. Once they are finished eating, they fly off and stand on the fence or walk on the roof of her garage. They won’t let anyone or anything get close to them. They will fly off to a higher area. My sister is into animals and has all kinds of birds running free in her yard. I even saw a Hummingbird for the first time. They are also my favorite bird like those cute fat Mourning Doves. 🌹🌹

I have a mourning dove that I’ve had since she was a chick (about 7 months). I’m guessing she is a female from her size. She is very affectionate and I am totally smitten by her. She is definitely attached to me, when I put my hand in her cage she flies right over, jumps onto my hand, then walks up my arm to sit happily on my shoulder as I walk around inside the house. But she doesn’t seem to like me petting or rubbing her neck the way you do. She doesn’t seem to like being touched at all, even though she is not afraid and is very comfortable hanging out with me and eating seeds from my hand. Do you think being touched is something that she will get used to or is that just her personality? Great video!

Wait until she hits breeding condition then see if she doesnt change her mind. LOL Our birds are handfed and cuddled a lot as babies. However when in breeding condition the males and females become very affectionate. I suspect that once she starts laying eggs..she is going to want a bunch of attention.

@@majesticdovesaviaryllc1107Great! Thanks! I just had her out with me this afternoon, and she rides around on my shoulder, very happy to be there, purring in fact. But when I reach out to pet her anywhere on her body, she accepts it for a few seconds then decides that’s enough and she will actually snap her beak at me as if she were going to bite, which she never really does, but she makes it abundantly clear that she doesn’t like even the lightest of touches. We’ll see what happens when in breeding condition. And for now, I’m fine with not touching her, she’s so sweet otherwise, and gets very excited to see me whenever we interact throughout the day. She happily eats from my hand, and hops onto my hand every chance she gets, so we’ll just continue on her terms, and I’ll try again in a few days or a week. Thanks for the reply, and for letting me go on about my bird that I adore. 😊

As with all the birds we breed and sell; we handfed him as a baby and them I personally trained him. I'm a Dove trainer.
