Cuban Boxing footwork

Спорт

From my visit to Cuba in 2010 at a leading gym in Guantanamo ,where equipment is limited,we see the Cuban boxers working on footwork drills.
So Fluent ,yet some people say they are natural and lucky to have these movements.
From my experience the coordination and footwork is trained everyday from a young age.The warm ups have coordination training where dance is a common thing.
There is no luck involved, the Cubans practice these moves everyday and are more important to them than Open sparring.
The Cubans see the big picture of boxing and are improving the small things constantly where in the western World we tend to use aggression and only see what is in front of us.

This is what most boxers lack.FOOT WORK. Artistic movement, watch it in slow motion.

I always theorized what if you mixed dancing with boxing y'know?? Next thing you know the Cubans have been doing that for I don't know HOW long.

Lay people marvel at the rustic, archaic, decaying training environment of Cuban boxers and find it enchanting. Little do they know, that most boxing clubs in worldwide looks the same and is equally basic and usually a lot smaller too. The general public are only accustomed to seeing the press workouts of top professional boxers, which are in the private gyms of their management & trainers. Amateur boxing gyms looks like this everywhere. Be it Russia, England, USA, Venezuela, Australia, India..

This is how you become fluid. Whatever sport your doing, balance and coordination are the key. Without coordination, you would look stiff and robotic. In boxing, the Cubans are probably the most graceful in footwork like rigo, Stevenson, erislandy lara and savon.

practice practice practice! This is something you can do when you're away from the gym even if you're tired, learn to develop balance and fluid movement. I like to work in some fluid punches with gloves ON with these type drills, you'll be surprised how they help your punching power!

Valero moved like this in the gym. Just got me thinking of how primitive the coaching system is in "Western" nations. We have two arm and two legs so why do we train fighters to box in one stance. Its crazy. Makes no sense.
