That traveler pin is probably worn. Now’s a good time to rotate that to put new faces into the groove. Tightens it up, less play.

Can use a needle thrust bearing also.

I think you are supposed to leave the original washer in place (after cleaning), then the bearing and then the new washer on top. (Two washers used).

Is the upgrade kit that much better than a good condition original steering gear box? I was thinking about buying one if it made a big enough difference.
